An explosive concoction will come out, which will leave you breathless... from laughter, of course.

VINEGAR TOM

For Jack and Margery, villagers of the Middle Ages, life is hard. The lands are small and few and the portion of the fief that falls to them can only be increased by the death or departure of someone from the village. The cattle get sick and die on their heads. The butter does not always curdle. Love has also withered along with Jack's lost erection. All this must be a punishment sent by the God of the Middle Ages for their sins. But what if it is not God who is playing with their lives, but, on the contrary... the Devil? It is known that the Devil does his work through his helpers on earth: the witches.

Their neighbor, Alice, and her old mother have all the makings of witches: both are single and have raised flower children (probably conceived with the help of the Devil); both curse whenever they are provoked; both (and only they) are able to restore Jack's erection when shown to him; they are poor and most likely envious of their wealth; but, most importantly, they have a black cat that frequently roams their household.

So when a famous witch hunter arrives in the village, Jack and Margery are more than motivated to contribute their testimonies to the general welfare.

THE THREEPENNY OPERA

Ironic, critical and picaresque, "The Threepenny Opera" is one of the plays that have become a phenomenon in the European cultural space. Written by Bertolt Brecht, a multilateral and influential reformer of 20th-century theater, after the satirical melodrama "The Beggar's Opera" (1728) by John Gay, the play captures the world of the marginalized: thieves, beggars, prostitutes and preserves the original plot, but in a different context and exploring new meanings.

The music, composed by Kurt Weill, with lyrics by Brecht, plays an important role in the economy of the play. Revolutionary for its time, combining influences of jazz and German dance music, it gives a distinctive touch and a special flavor, having both a recreational and a critical role. It is certain that the songs/chantments of the "Threepenny Opera" enjoyed great popularity.
