HANSEL AND GRETEL
The plot of the Hansel and Gretel fairy tale is familiar to everyone, regardless of age. The idea of moving away from age is the main idea of the recent adaptation, because the story of the two brothers could happen even today, because we are telling it today. The goal was not to put a modern spin on an old fairy tale, but to bring the fairy tale closer to the audience, so that it is more understandable to today's children. Hänsel and Gretel are, in fact, two children who chatter, but in their thoughts we can recognize our own children, our neighbors, or ourselves.
The expressive play of the large, plastic puppets is complemented by the presence, mood, and acting of the puppeteers. The action, often interactive with the children, as well as the text, which brings freshness and allows for improvisation, prevent the minimization of a classic and well-known story.
The Hänsel and Gretel show is a demanding work of creation and offers an enjoyable performance for puppet theater audiences of all ages.
