Attempts to establish a stable Romanian theater troupe in Oradea only yielded results at the beginning of 1954, when actors Grigore Schitcu, C. Simionescu, Gore Teodorescu and Maria Vasilescu were invited to establish a committee to form the Romanian theater section, under the leadership of Andrei Dauer. Thus, after a tortuous course, in the summer of 1955, the Oradea State Theater was established, which would function (until 2011 when the theaters would separate) with two sections: the Romanian one (currently known as the Iosif Vulcan Troupe) and the Hungarian one (Szigligeti Tarsulat).<\/p>\n

The first show performed by the Romanian troupe was, perhaps not coincidentally, "A Lost Letter" by IL Caragiale, which premiered on November 26, 1955, being a success both from the point of view of the choice and the staging. In honor of this event of great cultural significance, the Regina Maria Theater invites you to take part in a week dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Romanian theater (permanent) in Oradea. The theatrical feast will take place between November 26 and December 2, during which you will be able to take a short trip into the past through photographs of the most beloved shows that have been performed since the troupe's founding until today, to revisit the most beautiful costumes, which will be brought to life by our delightful volunteers, to watch extraordinary shows of the current season and two unique performances, meant to celebrate both the theater and the audience.<\/p>\n
The show that will inaugurate the anniversary event, on Thursday, November 26, at 6:30 PM, at the Great Hall, is performed by the beloved actor Eugen \u0162ugulea, who has graced the stage of the Romanian theater in Oradea since its founding, playing in the show that opened the theater's first season in 1955. "60 years on this stage (the same)", a show drawn from memories, which takes the form of a special recital of famous verses -from Mihai Eminescu, Michelangelo Buonarotti, George Top\u00e2rceanu, MR Paraschivescu, George Co\u015fbuc- and monologues -from IL Caragiale, B.\u015et. Delavrancea, William Shakespeare, Al. Pu\u015fkin, Geo Bogza and Petre Ghelmez-, which will end with a unique dialogue with the audience. The show will be moderated by theater critic Elisabeta Pop and will be accompanied musically on the bagpipes by the talented Oana Lianu, who will perform "The Ballad of My People".<\/p>\n
On Friday, November 27, from 7:00 PM, at the Arcadia Hall, you are invited to enjoy the premiere that opened the current season of the Regina Maria Theatre, "The Eve", an extraordinary tragicomedy that comically questions the strong commercialization of spiritual values, such as Christmas, in contemporary capitalist society. On Saturday, November 28, from 11:00 AM, at the Arcadia Hall, you are invited to accompany the beautiful and candid "Little Red Riding Hood" on her way to her grandmother and help her escape the cunning of the big bad wolf.<\/p>\n
On Sunday, November 29, from 11:00, at the Great Hall we welcome you with an extraordinary premiere: "Ivan Turbinc\u0103", a dramatization of the story by Ion Creang\u0103, under the artistic direction of Daniel Vulcu, a combination of satire and humor, which can equally enchant the souls of both children and their parents. In the evening, from 19:00, also at the Great Hall, you will be delighted by the talented soloists invited by Opera Vox, who return to the stage of the Oradea theater, this time with the opera "Traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi. On Monday, November 30, from 19:00, at the Great Hall, the Chekhovian characters from the show "The Cherry Orchard" await the final verdict: will the famous orchard be cut down or not, which for a long time was not only a reason for joy for the Liubov family, but even a reason for local pride.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, December 1, the Romanian theater in Oradea has a double reason to celebrate, as it also celebrates Romania's National Day. On this occasion, the special edition "Open Doors Day" will take place, which will take place between 10:00 and 18:00, during which you will be able to visit the theater building, backstage, actors' cabins, offices and you will be able to attend a rehearsal with the audience.<\/p>\n
The tour will be guided by our volunteers, who will warmly welcome you, wearing the most spectacular costumes of the theater. In fact, you will be able to admire them wearing outfits from the shows throughout the anniversary week. From 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall you are invited to relive the most beautiful moments from beloved shows of the last seasons, such as: THE FISTING ON THE ROOF, THE MAN FROM LA MACHA, LEONCE AND LENA, THE LOVERS FROM ANCONA, watching the collage show "BEST OF". Since it is a show dedicated to the Oradea audience as a sign of appreciation for the love with which it has honored the theater over time, entry will be free and will be made on a reservation basis (priority to subscribers).<\/p>\n
We are ending the theater's anniversary week in force, embarking together on an adventure full of adventures alongside Don Quixote and his faithful squire, Sancho Panza, in the show "The Man of La Mancha", on Wednesday, December 2, from 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall of the Regina Maria Theater.<\/p>\n
The exhibition will include 40 photographs from the most beloved shows that have been performed since the troupe's founding until today and will be on display throughout the event in the theater's foyer.<\/p>\n
