Twelfth Night

by William Shakespeare
Written near Christmas 1600, Twelfth Night, like many other Shakespearean comedies, is based on the confusion of the identities of some characters. Viola and Sebastian, twin brothers, escape from a shipwreck, but neither knows what happened to the other's fate. Viola disguises herself as a boy to get a job as a page at the court of Duke Orsino. From here on, a series of comic situations arise. The characters are amusing. We sense that nothing serious will happen in the end, despite all the unexpected events. All the confusions will be resolved and the play will end in a perfect balance of harmony and love.
Regardless of the sources used, the plot of Shakespeare's play is more than successful. The psychological depths of some ordinary characters, the confused identities of the characters delighted the author's contemporary audience and we hope that they will delight the audience of today as well, arousing their curiosity and motivating them to come to the premiere in March from the Great Hall of the Regina Maria Theatre and at the following performances, where they will experience a reinvented Shakespeare.
