Queen Marie Theater Oradea

blight

by IL Caragiale, directed by: Denisa Irina Vlad

„"Năpasta" is the only play written by Ion Luca Caragiale in the tragic register, a creation that has sparked a polarized critical reception over time, oscillating between accusations of plagiarism and recognition of its dramaturgical value.

The play illustrates several forms of tragedy: individual evil, born of a passionate crime and the desire for revenge; social evil, embodied by an unjust justice that destroys lives and legitimizes blind punishment; and universal evil, which reveals a lying and cruel world, in which no character can escape their own suffering.

The Oradea production brings a humanistic vision to the text, emphasizing nuances, the complexity of emotions and moral conflicts.

„"Life is not reduced to the contrasts between black and white, but is infinitely more nuanced. We all have a trace of conscience, a trace of goodness; no one is deeply good or deeply bad. I would like this truth to emerge from the show," confesses Denisa Irina Vlad.
