The Operacademy Cultural Association, in partnership with the FITO Cultural Foundation, the Regina Maria Theater and the University of Oradea - Faculty of Arts, is launching the project of the first opera workshop in Oradea, with the support of the Oradea State Philharmonic.

Started as a masterclass, supported by two experienced artists – director Carmelo Agnello (Italy) and conductor Julian Smith (Wales), it aims to involve and promote young performers who are at the beginning of their careers.

Thus, the famous opera "The Marriage of Figaro" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will be presented on the stage of the Regina Maria Theater, which will bring before the audience Figaro, Susanna, Count and Countess Almaviva or Bartolo, Basilio, Barbarina, characters performed by young soloists from Oradea, who will be joined by guest soloists from countries such as Italy, France, Austria and Wales.

director Carmelo Agnello is a professor at University No. 8 in Paris, professor at the Claude Debussy Conservatory in Paris, playwright at the Nancy Opera and initiator and coordinator of the “Nebrodi in canto” Opera Workshop Festival in Sicily.

Julian Smith He was a selector of the most prestigious singing competition in the world: BBC Cardiff Singer of the World. He was the musical director of the Welsh National Opera for 21 years, during which time he conducted approximately 40 operas for the company. At the invitation of the RICORDI company, Julian Smith edited and reconstructed the first version of the opera MADAMA BUTTERFLY by Giacomo Puccini, which has already been staged in Venice, Paris, New York.

Tickets are on sale at the Theatre Agency (phone 0259 440 742), and are priced between 5 lei (special prices, for students - only in the balcony) and 30 lei (20 lei in the hall, 25 lei in the side boxes, 30 lei in the central boxes and 15 lei in the balcony).
