„"These Sad Angels" is a play in which the real intertwines with the symbol, the bearers of aspirations towards purity being the young, who embody perpetual renewal, moral regeneration. Ion and Silvia, the "sad angels", are two characters of adolescent candor who come together and discover each other, as they discover those with whom they are in conflict. Their moral category is put in antithesis with Marcu's cowardice or Cristescu's pettiness. The two do not lead a pure life, they are not exempt from wanderings, they have known disillusionment and imposture. However, they live with the conviction that fulfillments have their own time and they covet an earthly paradise, a happiness that, although some deny them, they never stop looking for. Ion and Silvia become voices of hope in an intense lyrical play, which advocates for altruism, trust, truth and harmony.
