„"An Impossible Girl" debates the fate of the village intelligentsia during the communist period, outlining a simplistic and clearly moralizing conflict through which it campaigns for the active involvement of young people in their workplaces. The young college graduate Mirela returns to her native village with her friend, Otilia, dreaming of a life as a teacher in the most classic sense of this apostolate. However, her enthusiasm and ambitions clash with the rigidity of the school principal, a routine, tough and impostor, incapable of accepting any change in the course of things. Mirela unleashes energies, distributes justice, heals emotional wounds; she is joined by an archaeologist who sympathizes with her, the Mayor, the commune doctor, the commune secretary of the youth organization, the school maid, the principal's wife. Although not without flavor, the predictable confrontation ends when the village sets off on a different path, through the construction of a new school and a museum, the discovery of an archaeological treasure, and the birth of new harmonious families.
