Queen Marie Theater Oradea

Actor

Date and place of birth: 05.01.1934, Obârşia, Olt County

Studies: Institute of Theatrical and Cinematographic Art "ILCaragiale" Bucharest, 1957

After a few brief appearances in a few films during his student years, he debuted as a professional actor at the Oradea Theater. The only one he played in until his death, due to an incurable illness.

An actor with an ideal physique and voice for the theater and equally talented, he became, right from the beginning of his career, the actor taken into account when compiling the repertoire. He played "beautiful" characters with equal ease, but he composed, with grace, memorable "types" or strong figures, what we call "heroes" in theater or film.

The young George Pintilescu was lucky enough to play alongside his more experienced colleagues in four shows directed by Radu Penciulescu. And even though his roles were small (The Executioner, Soldier, etc.), they gained weight thanks to the guidance of this great artist. In the role of Nae Girimea ("D'ale carnavalului" by ILCargiale, directed by Valeriu Moisescu) he built a fascinating character - said a columnist. He did not go unnoticed either in the role of Cellino (Marcello) in "Act venețian" by Camil Petrescu, intelligently highlighting the lack of intelligence, the superficiality of this handsome gigolo who was successful with women. He gave weight to the role of Theodoric ("Romulus the Great" by Friedrich Dürrenmatt), was hypocritical enough in "Head Salad" (by Ilie Păunescu and Paul Aristide), charming in Demetrius ("A Midsummer Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare), tragic, disturbing Macbeth (in "Macbeth" by William Shakespeare), sensitive and full of poetry in Freamăt-Voinicul ("Forget-me-not" by Valentin Avrigeanu)

In addition to his creative record, which illustrates the above traits, he was also a true colleague, whom the members of the collective remember with pleasure, even if, like a true Moldovan, he would sometimes stop by for a "glass of conversation"... Unfortunately, he passed away too soon, in full artistic maturity. He never "caught" the big roles.
