IN THE HEART OF THE NIGHT – THE MACBETH EPISODE

Macbeth episode – obsession with power

THE MACBETH EPISODE concludes the IN THE HEART OF THE NIGHT trilogy, after THE HAMLET EPISODE and THE LEAR EPISODE.

Only the essential lines, the key lines, have been preserved from the Shakespearean text. The missing text is replaced with physical actions that the play assumes or allows to be imagined. The connections between some sequences, as well as the analysis of some important elements for this project belong to George Banu and Monique Borie.

We follow two people, Mr. and Mrs. Macbeth, on a path of no return to self-destruction. Projections of these souls tormented by guilty aspirations take fabulous forms. Thus, the witches are seen as vehicles of older hidden aspirations, substitutes for desires that return obsessively.

We make theater in the middle of the night out of fear of the Night itself. And, at the same time, out of the desire to forget the wanderings of the day. We play to save ourselves! By night, by day. Always and forever at the crossroads… as George Banu says.
