Queen Marie Theater Oradea

Actress

Date and place of birth: 23.07.1908, Bucharest

Studies: secondary

She began her career at Constantin Tănase's "Cărăbuş" Theater, then played in comedies and operettas on several stages in the capital, since 1934 (the "Alb şi Negru" Theater, "Colorado", "Gioconda", "Savoy"), and from 1948 to 1959 at the State Theater in Sibiu. And there, as well as in Oradea (until the date of her death), she played a multitude of important roles, in which she proved her great talent, not only in light plays, but also in scores of great dramatic force: Widow Bohn in "The Dangaard People" by Martin Andersen Nexö, Elisabeth of Valois in "Maria Stuart" by Friedrich Schiller (Sibiu), Claire Zachanassian in "The Visit of the Old Lady" by Friedrich Dürrenmatt, which, watching her, you wondered: where can so much strength emanate from such a frail body? Only from his great talent.

Maud Mary made, wrote a columnist, in the role of the Old Lady, ("The Visit..." by Friedrich Dürrenmatt), "the great achievement of her entire artistic life". She was masterful. In the role of Aneta Duduleanu ("Gaițele" by Al. Kirițescu) she simply shone: she played with intelligence and humor as much as possible, with elegance, never for a moment with vulgar or slum accents.
