Moisescu, Valeriu

Artistic director
Date and place of birth: 01.04.1932, Campina
Studies: Institute of Theatrical and Cinematographic Art "ILCaragiale" Bucharest, 1955, class of Prof. George Dem. Loghin
A colleague of Radu Penciulescu, Mihai Dimiu, Lucian Pintilie, Sanda Manu (the golden generation of Romanian directors), Valerică, as her colleagues called her, debuted at the Galați Theater, and after four years she came to Oradea, where she signed the great successes of the theater here with "Cyrano de Bergerac" by Edmond Rostand, "The Tale of Irkutsk" by Alexei Arbuzov or "The Man Who Brings Rain" by N. Richard Nash.
After a short stop in Ploieşti (where he fully utilized the future great actor Toma Caragiu), he settled in the capital, staging numerous shows at the "Lucia Sturdza Bulandra" Theater in particular, but also at other theaters, quickly becoming one of the most important names in Romanian theater directors - not only through the productions he produced, but also through the pedagogical work he did in the theater directing class, whose professor (and head of the Faculty) he was for several years, being the mentor of many of the directors of the last generations.
He wrote the volumes: "Contradictory Notes: Pages from a Theatre Journal. 1981-1999" (1999); "The Persistence of Memory" (2007).
