Rusu, Cristian

Set designer painter
Date and place of birth: 01.02.1972, Cluj-Napoca
Studies: "Ion Andreescu" Academy of Visual Arts, Cluj-Napoca, 1997
The young set designer from Cluj-Napoca has made his name since he was a student. His first collaborations at the Oradea Theatre were in 1997, with two young directors who also came from the Cluj theatre school: with Radu Ghiţulescu on "Năpasta" and "Doctor fără voie", and with Tudor Chirilă on "Pseudolus" by Plautus. He also designed the set for the shows "If Love Aren't..." by Marin Preda and "Electra", by Sophocles and Euripides. Elaborate, functional, bearing the mark of good taste and a perfect understanding and collaboration with the directors, the sets designed by Cristian Rusu were appreciated by critics for their originality and surprising ability to "speak" about one era or another, while still maintaining a modern air in perfect harmony with the text and its message.
