THE PURSE WITH TWO MONEYS

"The Bag with Two Coins" is one of the most famous literary creations in the Romanian literary canon, a valuable cultural heritage that has enriched the imagination of many generations of children. Whether spoken or written, the story has not lost its charm even in the confrontation of principles with the modern breath.

Director András Szőke Kavinszki transposes the story "The Two-Penny Purse" onto the stage, starting from the issue of preserving and saving tradition, finding a new utility for it, adapted to contemporary society.

The general framework of the show presents the story of an old man and an old woman, craftsmen burdened by the hardships of modern times, who are preparing to display their products at a fair, while the actors accompanying them present a small skit with Vasilache and Mărioara. The object of the blacksmith's soul is the weathercock, the weather vane, whose glorious time has long since passed, and the old woman's is the artisanal Easter eggs, which are no longer in demand these days. Saving the craft and tradition, passing on the baton to the next generation becomes the great challenge of their lives. The solution they find to create bridges between the old and the new is the story, which takes place in an immemorial time, which cannot be dated exactly, and the one most suitable for the circumstances in which they find themselves is "The Bag with Two Money".

The show is adapted to the challenges of our days, the adventures the rooster goes through are similar to those in Creangă's story, but accompanied by great musical talent, combining the traditional with the modern, within the limits of possibilities and common sense.
