Festival finale – "Portrait of the author"
The first edition of the "Portret de autor" Festival, organized by the Iosif Vulcan Troupe of the Regina Maria Theater, in partnership with the Bihor County Council, has come to an end, after eight days in which spectators and theater people were able to enjoy beautiful performances and artistic encounters.
During this event, the Transilvania Hall was inaugurated, in the space of the old Transilvania Cinema, a new studio-type theater, which officially opened with the premiere of the show "The Son". The event was attended by theater critics, casting directors, and Oradea officials, such as Mayor Florin Birta and Vice President of the County Council Călin Gal.
"The idea of organizing this festival emerged with the "Son" project, proposed to the Regina Maria Theater by director Bobi Pricop, but also from the impossibility of organizing the Oradea International Theater Festival, a large-scale event with a tradition in the Romanian theatrical landscape.
"As the text "The Son" is part of a trilogy signed by Zeller and knowing that the other two plays, "Mother" and "Father", were staged in Romania, we considered it an opportunity that we should take advantage of to recreate a little of the atmosphere of the Oradea theater festival, to highlight an important project: the premiere of the show "The Son" and to initiate a new theatrical event, which we hope will grow even more in the years to come under the dome of the Oradea International Theater Festival", says Daniel Vulcu, manager of the Regina Maria Theater, about the new Oradea theater festival.
The first four days of the "Portret de autor" Festival were dedicated to the French writer, playwright and filmmaker Florian Zeller, bringing together the trilogy that established him both in the world of theater and film, including two guest performances: "Father", from the "Ioan Slavici" Classical Theater in Arad, directed by Radu Iacoban, and "Mother", from the "Nottara" Theater in Bucharest, directed by Cristi Juncu, and the national premiere of the show "The Son", a production of the Iosif Vulcan Troupe of the Regina Maria Theater, directed by Bobi Pricop. The performances were received by the Oradea audience with enthusiasm and emotion. Congratulations from viewers on social networks were not long in coming, and the first positive reactions in the press for the premiere of the Iosif Vulcan Troupe were not long in coming.
The second part of the festival was dedicated to the Iosif Vulcan Troupe and brought together three of the most representative performances from the last season: "Vinegar Tom", "Genul acustativ" and "Opera de trei parale" and a premiere "Pană când moară ne va desparți (Liselotte și luna mai)", which took place in the presence of the author.
The interest in the performances was high, both among the mature audience and the young. The two premieres of the Iosif Vulcan Troupe were played to a closed house, and tickets were sold out immediately after they went on sale.
The festival program was completed by two related events: the book launch of "Ariel behind the scenes", a volume coordinated by Elisabeta Pop and Raluca Sas Rădulescu, attended by people of theater and literature, journalists, but also theater-loving spectators, and the meeting with the author of the text "Liselotte and May", playwright Pozsgai Zsolt, who spoke to us about theater, film, dramaturgy, the source of inspiration for the play "Liselotte in May" and the joy of creating.
Thank you all for your involvement and dedication! Special thanks go to the director of the Iosif Vulcan Troupe, Balint Victoria, who coordinated the realization of this event.
We can't wait to see you at the theater!
