ORADEA INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL begins
The Regina Maria Theater, in partnership with the Bihor County Council, the Oradea City Hall, the FITO Cultural Foundation and UNITER, organizes the 7th edition of the Oradea International Theater Festival from June 2 to 9.
Spectators are invited to participate for eight days in a theatrical marathon that brings together no less than 19 performances from renowned theater companies from across the country, but also from abroad: Moldova, Ukraine, Georgia and France.
The Oradea International Theatre Festival will include two major sections this year: the competition section – SHORT THEATRE FESTIVAL, reached the anniversary edition with number XXV and the section GUEST SHOWS – OUT OF COMPETITION.
THE SHORT THEATRE FESTIVAL is a unique cultural event in the Romanian theatrical landscape and has a competitive character. This year the selection was made by Victoria Balint – head of the cultural projects and public relations office of the Regina Maria Theatre and includes 8 productions made by both institutionalized and independent theatres. The jury is made up of three cultural personalities of Romanian theatre: theatre critics Ion Parhon and Elisabeta Pop and theatre and film actor Ion Sapdaru.
In the INVITE SHOWS – OUT OF COMPETITION section, the Oradea audience will be able to enjoy 11 extraordinary shows, invited both from the country and abroad, as well as successful productions of the Regina Maria Theatre, among which we mention the premiere of the show "The Sound of Music", music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, libretto by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, based on the novel "The Trapp family singers" by Maria Augusta Trapp, directed by Mihaela Bogdan.
Also, among the remarkable productions that can be seen at FITO are the ballet show "Carmen.TV", a production of the Ukrainian Academic Theatre Kyiv Modern-Ballet, the show "Medea's boys", staged by the Apollo 111 theater company from Bucharest and "The Navigator" of the Târgu-Mureș National Theater - "Liviu Rebreanu" Company, which features Oradea actor Richard Balint, winner of the Best Supporting Actor Award at this edition of the UNITER Awards Gala. The Oradea International Theater Festival will thus reunite this year again shows created by great directors such as Cristian Juncu, Claudiu Goga, Andrei Măjeri.
The events within FITO 2019 will take place at the Great Hall of the Theatre, the Arcadia Hall, the Studio Szigligeti Hall and the mobile stage located in the Oradea Citadel.
