The "Iosif Vulcan" troupe of the Regina Maria Theater has the great pleasure of announcingÞthe premiere of the show "98% (the right decision)" by Andreea Tănase, directed by Cătălin Mardale, which will take place on April 23, at 7 p.m., at the Arcadia Hall.

The show is aimed at teenagers and deals with a sensitive topic that our society still faces: teenage pregnancy and the socio-emotional rollercoaster in which those who face such an event are caught. Adjacent to the main theme, another topic relevant to young people is brought up for discussion: bullying in schools.

The show is part of the education program initiated by the Regina Maria Theater, which is aimed at young people, and aims to create a safe spot debate on current topics, which are still treated as taboo in our society. After the performances that will be held, organized for high schools, discussions with a school psychologist will take place on the topic developed in the show.

At the same time, "98% (the right decision)" is the project submitted by director Cătălin Mardale within the "Start-up Theatre Directing" program, launched by the Regina Maria Theatre in January 2022 and designated the winner.

Cătălin Mardale graduated in Theatre Directing, under the class of Prof. Gelu Badea, at the "Babeș Bolyai" University, Faculty of Theatre and Television, Cluj-Napoca, where he is also pursuing his doctoral studies in the Theatre and Performing Arts department. He directed the show "Dust" by Spiró Győrgy at the Baia Mare Municipal Theatre and a series of independent shows, collaborating in this regard with Reactor de Creație și Experiment and Fabrica de Pensule in Cluj-Napoca.

Most of the time, teenage girls who face an unexpected pregnancy are either blamed or simply ignored. In addition to the emotional shock they experience in such a situation, in Romania, teenage mothers also face a lack of services. A Save the Children report shows that 5 out of 10 pregnant teenagers were not checked by a gynecologist during their pregnancy.

Through the show I propose, I want to raise an alarm, on the one hand. On the other hand, however, I do not want to make Iza a victim. On the contrary. She will become a strong voice for all teenage girls who have faced a pregnancy. (Catalin Mardale)

The scenography and animations projected in the show belong to Răzvan Chendrean, and the cast includes the following actors: Giorgiana Coman, Lucia Rogoz, Sorin Ionescu, Carina Bunea, Tudor Manea, Angela Tanko, Petra Panait, Eugen Neag and David Constantinescu.

The premiere will also be attended by playwright Andreea Tănase, who responded to our challenge to participate in a series of discussions with the audience about the text, sources of inspiration, the need to deal with burning topics and to hold up a mirror to current society.

The show is not recommended for people under 14 years old!

The premiere will take place on April 23, 2023, from 7:00 PM, at the Arcadia Hall, and the next performances on April 27 and May 10.
