Queen Mary Theatre is presenting the performance ‘A HAPPY MAN FOR YEARS TO COME…’ / „Pe-un om ferice ani în şir…”, a selection of Michelangelo Buonarroti’s poems while celebrating 450 years from his death.

Michelangelo Buonarroti was an Italian sculptor, painter, architect, poet, and engineer of the High Renaissance who exerted an unparalleled influence on the development of Western art. Despite making few forays beyond the arts, his versatility in the disciplines he took up was of such a high order that he is often considered a contender for the title of the archetypal Renaissance man, along with his fellow Italian Leonardo da Vinci.

The feelings, the profound thoughts of Master Michelangelo found their expression, throughout his long existence, in a series of lyrical compositions and several letters addressed to family members and friends. Without being a literate by definition, and without having the intention of publishing the poems, Buonarroti left behind several lyrical compositions, inspired by Petrarca, as to conform to the laws of literature of that time.

In Queen Mary Theater’s production, the viewers will have the chance to listen to Michelangelo’s immortal lyrics, in the interpretation of actor Eugen Țugulea, with a special performance from actress Zentania Lupșe.
