A graduate with full marks from the "ILCaragiale" Institute of Theatre and Cinematography in Bucharest, Cristina Şchiopu played, while still a student, a leading role in Dan Piţa's film: "Tănase Scatiu". The press wrote enthusiastically about the young performer of the role of Tincuţa at the time. In 1978 she came to the Oradea State Theatre, where, from her first roles, she proved that she deserved the attribute of star. She played for eight-nine years, almost exclusively leading roles. Tall, thin, only apparently fragile, extremely expressive, intelligent, with a great power of concentration, of a carefully controlled sensitivity, Cristina Şchiopu very soon became the director's collaborator, in the best sense of the word, a participant in the success of shaping the entrusted character. Endowed with a special sense of the stage, photogenic, with an undeniable presence and capable of communicating excellently with partners, Cristina Şchiopu was able to embody comedy, drama and even tragedy roles equally convincingly.

We remember how charming the characters Anaïs were in the vaudeville "The Florentine Hat" by Eugène Labiche or Catherine, the famous Madame Sans-Gêne in the comedy of the same name, whose frankness astonished the nobles, but conquered Napoleon. The actress's intelligence certainly contributed to the fine contouring of characters full of surprises and mystery in detective plays such as "Double Game" by Robert Thomas (Françoise) or "The Trap" by Robert Thomas (Florence). In the show "In a Park... on a Bench" she played alongside Ion Mâinea - an exemplary acting recital.

Exceptional in the role of Constanza Weber ("Amadeus" by Peter Shaffer), conquering, affectionate, tender, playful, but also indifferent, slightly irresponsible, childish - Cristina Şchiopu played her with personality and immense love, in a perfect couple with Cristian Şofron. About the role of Mommina ("Tonight is Improvisation" by Luigi Pirandello) there were laudatory lines written: "Cristina Şchiopu (writes Ileana Berlogea), canceling the indecisiveness of her debut, creates a character made up of mystery and carnality". In the role of the Reporter ("Interviu" by Ecaterina Oproiu) it is said that "she was remarkable". Mircea Cornişteanu cast her in the main female role in the absolute premiere "Furniture and Pain", in the role of Melania having subtlety and a special, Mazilian type of humor. Casual and charming in comedy: Liz Preston ("A Farewell Weekend" by Marc Sauvajon), exemplary in drama. Sensitive to poetry, but also a good reader of poetry, Cristina Şchiopu initiated, together with the literary secretariat, a kind of poetry and music show - the respective poets being invited to the show: Ştefan Augustin Doinaş, Mircea Dinescu, Romulus Vulpescu, Ana Blandiana, Alexandru Andriţoiu, the musical part being elegantly covered by remarkable artists, such as pianist Dana Borşan, Tudor Gheorghe, musician, or the jazz band led by the incomparable Harry Tavitian. The actress showed drama and grace in the difficult role of Gene in the show "Titanic Waltz" by Tudor Muşatescu, a role that did not require her dramatic resources.
