Dumitrescu, Ben

Actor
Date and place of birth: 10.07.1936, Slățioara
Studies: Institute of Theatre and Cinematography "ILCaragiale" Bucharest, 1967
Coming directly to Oradea as a graduate, he benefited from intensive employment, appearing in twenty-three roles in just four seasons. Having a pleasant physique and voice, a strange "what" in the way of being on stage, he left a pleasant impression on his colleagues and spectators. His performance in the show "Spring Suicide is Forbidden" by Alejandro Cassona, was noted, along with his colleagues George Musceleanu, Viorica Cernucan, Nicolae Barosan, Ion Abrudan – in a show "somewhat lacking in imagination". He was applauded and praised for the way he recited, intelligently and with moderation, Nicolae Labiş's lyrics from the Labiş Recital.
He was a beautiful and "casual figure, skillfully mimicking superficiality" in the role of Happy, one of Willy Loman's sons, played by Dorel Urlăţeanu ("Death of a Traveling Salesman" by Arthur Miller). In Leonaş ("Chiriţa in the Province" by Vasile Alecsandri) he convinced with the finesse of his approach to the role: he had charm and was an appearance full of freshness and humor.
