The fascinating story of the cold north comes to life on the stage of the Oradea State Theatre in the play "The Little Match Girl" by Hans-Christian Andersen. The play depicts, in colorful images and songs, the adventures of the group of children formed around poor Christine, who can only dream of the gifts and goodies that the other children enjoy on the magical New Year's night. The fairy-tale inserts are evident in the second part of the show, when, through the flame of the matches she was supposed to sell, Christine sees as if in a dream a table laden with food in the midst of a party, a bright Christmas tree, a doll and her rich friend, Cathlen. In reality, although different in education and social rank, the children understand the meaning of solidarity, overcome the adversities of fate and even death, demonstrating that humanity and love are the most precious qualities. The play's director, Eugen Ţugulea, aims to stimulate the human side of the little spectators through the emotion of the story and sow the seed that will bear fruit later: the idea that above all, man must be man.
