Marcel Segărceanu came to Oradea from Arad, from the second generation of the young Romanian section (1956). Well-made, an elegant figure, blond-brown with blue eyes, wavy hair, serious, with a sobriety that added a few years to his real age, Marcel Segărceanu was cast in roles that suited him: serious young men in performances of Soviet plays such as "Meeting with Youth" by Alexei Arbuzov (Kolea), "The Youth of Parents" by Boris Gorbatov (Ocicar), then he moved on to compositions such as Cadâr (in the show "Tache, Ianke and Cadâr" by Victor Ion Popa), Cristescu (in the show "Secunda 58" by Dorel Dorian, Cavalerul Crucii de fier (in the show "Passacaglia" by Titus Popovici) or the rascal Marin Tănase (in the show "O lună de confort" by Ştefan Iureş and Ben Dumitrescu). When the characters were more consistent (see Don Guzman from "The Marriage of Figaro" by Beaumarchais), Snout from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" by William Shakespeare, Mateiaş from "Luceafărul" by B.Şt.Delavrancea), Marcel Segărceanu made a commendable effort to give them an original silhouette.

He passed as a difficult actor, but in reality he was demanding and looking for..., always asking, perhaps annoyingly, sometimes, how the director "sees" his character in the economy of the show, what he wants to communicate through him. He was very curious and prepared seriously for each appearance. In other words, he took his "role seriously". He created several characters that are hard to forget, in landmark shows, such as Mulţescu in the show "Sleeping on a Snake" by DRPopescu, Cardinal Giovanni di Medici in "Michelangelo" by Al. Kiriţescu, Găzdaru in "Ten Laughter" by Tudor Popescu or Count Orsini in "Amadeus" by Peter Shaffer, the last two directed by Alexandru Darie - a director whom the actor particularly esteemed and loved. With Alexandru Colpacci he created at least two landmark roles: the many-faced Cristescu in "These Sad Angels" by DRPopescu and a cunning Mayor in "The Naked King" by Evgheni Şvarţ. He played with reserved humor the Warden of the prison from the show "The Miraculous Career" by Tauno Yliruusi, or the bitter Mr. Wormington from "The Secret of the Posket Family" by Arthur W. Pinero. A passionate rose grower and poetry lover, Marcel Segărceanu organized a superb evening of poetry (together with a few colleagues) in the original setting of a Rose Exhibition (several new varieties belonging to him).
