The last premiere of the 2018 season at the Regina Maria Theater saddle coincidentally The Sound of Music, the famous musical created by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II in 1959, inspired by the memoirs of Maria von Trapp, The Story of the Trapp Family Singers. It follows Maria Rainer (future von Trapp), a postulant sister at the Nonnberg convent, who becomes governess in the family of Captain Georg von Trapp. In turn, she wins the hearts of the seven children, and then their father, but the period seems to be unkind to them, the action being set in 1938, at the dawn of what is now known as the Anschluss, or the annexation of Austria by Nazi Germany.

Without a doubt, the strong point of the show is the group of 7 children who enliven the stage with their innocence and ease, being natural and full of joy in every line they say and every aria they sing. Each of them with a well-defined role, they succeed Let him complete the task, building around them, in fact, the entire skeleton and coagulating the entire energy of the show. It is worth mentioning the actress Maria Teişanu, embodying a Liesl von Trapp, a newer presence in the Oradea troupe, which is integrating IN A harmoniously in the theater team. It is worth noting the stage chemistry she has with Eugen Neag, in the role of Rolfe Gruber, the relationship between the two being fluid, natural and devoid of any forced gesture... traits that, in fact, characterize both actors in general.

Another strong point is the casting of actress Adela Lazăr in the role of Maria Rainer, who is exciting with her lively acting, doubled by The voice-I sweet and charming. What's even more beautiful is that her energy manages to bring out the children, and thus it works together IN A ideal way to create a more believable von Trapp family. Also, one can note the stage match with the actor Sorin Ionescu (Georg von Trapp), who instills an air of authority throughout the show, but which becomes sympathetic with the progressive evolution of the action.

A third notable character is Ioana Dragoş Gajdo, in the role of Mother Superior, who, as in all her roles, offers a note of security and stability through her powerful and charismatic performance. Last but not least, Gabriela Codrea and her vigorous voice are noteworthy.

The one who saddle The director of the National Opera was in charge of the staging. Cluj-Napoca, Mihaela Bogdan, also responsible for the choreography. In her case, we can talk about a discreet staging, which saddle focused mainly on the actors, both on highlighting their qualities and patching up their possible shortcomings. He preferred to make simple choices, without getting too complicated, which was a wise choice, because it left more room for the cast to express themselves freely and fill the entire space with their robustness. The same can be seen in the minimalist choices that set designer Amalia Buie He done, placing Hither and thither exactly the elements that were needed to recreate the original atmosphere of the musical, as well as the development of the von Trapp family, respectively their degradation Socio-Political of Austrian society since the late 1930s.

Cheerful, simply built, The Sound of Music honorably continues the tradition of famous musicals staged in recent years on the stage of the Regina Maria Theatre, alongside titles such as Fiddler on the Roof or The Man of La Mancha. To reiterate what was written above, the show is worth seeing just for the young actors who make up the group of von Trapp children. Since the cast is double in their case… here is a good reason to see the show twice. But participation is also recommended because of the charming and funny way in which Mihaela Bogdan plays this already classic story.
