FITO 2018 | Winner of the DRAMATIC CREATION COMPETITION

The jury of the "Short Play Dramatic Creation Contest" has designated the winner of this edition!

As every year, the "Dramatic Creation Competition Dedicated to Short Plays" was organized within the Short Theatre Festival, which aims to encourage original Romanian dramaturgy, especially short theatre.

The organizers do not suggest a specific theme, leaving freedom of choice to the writers, the criterion for appreciating the plays being an aesthetic one. The only imposed element is the formal one, required by the rigors of short theater.

This year, 15 texts were entered into the competition, which were read and analyzed by the jury composed of theater critics Claudiu Groza, Oana Borș and actor Eugen Țugulea. Following the evaluation of the texts, based on premises related to dramatic technique and artistic value, three finalist texts were selected:

  1. „"With the drone", by Radu Popescu
  2. „"Zloaţa or the Future President of Romania", by Radu Popescu
  3. „"Passing through walls, rehearsal diary", by Edith Negulici

The play declared the winner, in full agreement with the jury members, is "With the Drone", written by Mr. Radu Popescu, "a fresh, youthful text, with a funny and unpredictable subject, domestic, extreme, contemporary, with a dose of suspense and a writing that ensures it a grandiose stage potential" (Claudiu Groza).

The text will appear in the next issue of Familia Magazine and will be sent to all theaters in the country to be read and, hopefully, staged.

Congratulations to the finalists and especially to the winner!

Also, within the Oradea International Theatre Festival, we invite you to the reading performances "SUB-SOUL", text and direction by Crista Bilciu (Saturday, September 29, from 3:00 PM, at the Arcadia Hall), which was the winner of the "Dramatic Creation Competition Dedicated to Short Play" of the 2017 edition, and "HALLO, SWITZERLAND!", by Laurențiu Budău, directed by Alexandru Rusu (Sunday, September 30, from 5:00 PM, at the Arcadia Hall), which is among the finalist texts of the 2016 edition. Admission is free, upon reservation at the Theatre Agency.

See you at the Oradea International Theater Festival!
