Between September 20-29, the 19th edition of the Short Theatre Festival, organized by the Regina Maria Theatre, will take place in Oradea. For ten days, the most prestigious theatre troupes from the country (Bucharest, Sibiu, Timișoara, Cluj, Arad, Iași), as well as from abroad: France, Germany, Austria, Hungary or Mexico, will appear in Oradea.

This year, the organizers paid special attention to Hungarian-language performances: three successful productions of Hungarian theaters in Romania and Hungary were invited. All performances will have Romanian subtitles. Today, we had actor Miske László as a guest at the press conference, who told us about his experience of over 26 years at the Oradea Theater – and because today is his birthday, he chose this date to launch a volume dedicated to him, written by Molnár Judit.

Mr. László Miske participates in the Short Theatre Festival with a performance in Debrecen, from the Csokonai Theatre, THE CANDLES BURN TO THE END (adaptation from the novel by Sándor Márai, directed by János Dömölky). This performance is performed on Thursday, September 26, at 7 p.m., in the Great Hall.

In a secluded castle, surrounded by forests, the old General prepares to receive a rare visitor, a man who was once his closest friend, but whom he has not seen for forty-one years. In the hours that follow, the guest and host engage in a duel of words and silences, accusing and evading each other, evoking the memory of their friendship and that of the General's beautiful wife, long dead.

The Debrecen Theatre's performance is not the only one to which we invite the Hungarian-speaking public: the Hungarian State Theatre in Cluj is also present with the show LEONIDA GEM SESSION, which will be performed on Saturday, September 21, at 7 pm in the Great Hall. Stars András Hatházi and Zsolt Bogdán come to Oradea in a show led by one of the best directors of the moment, Gábor Tompa, in a show dedicated to the incomparable Caragiale - a "free-falling" adaptation of the Romanian writer's work.

Another show to which we invite the Hungarian audience is GARDENIA (directed by Koltai M. Gábor), by the "Csiky Gergely" Hungarian State Theatre in Timișoara, scheduled for Sunday, at 7 p.m., at the Trade Unions' Culture House.

Four generations of women, from here, from nearby Krakow, Poland, Central Europe. A slice of Central European history; fifty hellish years, with dreams that flare up and die out again and again, ruptures, clashes, rises and falls. A destiny passed down from one generation to another, through a particular female branch, as in a Greek tragedy. Four portraits and a piece of the continent behind them.
