SHOWS AT FITO: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20

The first edition of the Oradea International Theatre Festival opens on Friday, September 20, at 2 p.m., with living statues on Corso. The people of Oradea will meet members of the Become Theatre Company from Sibiu, who will dress up specially to welcome this great theatre celebration.

Also on the Corso, at 6 pm, the Theater Costume Parade begins - the actors of the Regina Maria Theater and the volunteers are getting dressed - who will accompany you on the way to the theater, where, at 7 pm, the official opening of the Festival takes place, with the show THE PRODUCERS (by Mel Brooks, directed by Halasi Imre).

The show THE PRODUCERS is a musical that made history on BROADWAY: a success with audiences and critics, a sparkling comedy… The musical was based on the 1968 film of the same name, to which Mel Brooks also contributed, writing the musical scores for this show. On Broadway, it premiered on April 19, 2001 and had over 2,500 performances and won no less than 12 TONY Awards. The success led to the creation of a new film with the Broadway stars, in 2005, with Nathan Lane (Max Bialystock), Matthew Broderick (Leo Bloom) and Uma Thurman (Ulla) in the main roles.

In the Oradea production you will see the beloved actors Alexandru Rusu (Max Bialystock), Pavel Sîrghi (Leo Bloom), Dania Ținca (Ulla), Daniel Vulcu (Franz Liebkind), Richard Balint (Roger DeBris), Petre Ghimbășan (Carmen Ghia) and many others, talented actors and dancers of the Regina Maria Theater; the orchestra led by Ovidiu Iloc also helps us with the show, which provides live music. The set is by Vioara Bara, the costumes are the creation of Amalia Judea and the choreography was handled by Andras Lorant and Noemi Bezsan.

We look forward to seeing you at the theater!

On the 50th anniversary of the first theater festival in Oradea – Short Theatre Week, the Regina Maria Theatre announces the selection of the 10th edition of the Oradea International Theatre Festival (FITO), financed by the Bihor County Council, which will take place between 11–20 September 2026. This year's anniversary edition brings to the fore a broad and diverse program, built around the two already established sections: the 28th edition of the Short Theatre Festival and the 6th edition of the Arcadia Children's Theatre Festival, which resumes after an 8-year break. The program of performances will be supported by a series of other events that will transform FITO into a meeting place between artists, professionals in the field of performing arts and the public.
