The Regina Maria Theatre is pleased to announce the national premiere of the play "Baraca", by Aiat Fayez, which enjoys the directorial and scenographic signature of Tudor Lucanu. The premiere will take place on Saturday, March 11, at 7:00 PM, at the Arcadia Hall. The author of the play, Aiat Fayez (b. 1979), is a contemporary playwright of Iranian origin, who immigrated to Paris to study philosophy. Shortly after publishing his first novel, in 2009 – "Cycle des manières de mourir", which deals with the theme FOREIGNER from the immigrant's perspective – he moves to Vienna, where he will dedicate himself entirely to writing. He publishes two more novels and writes several plays that are successful and attract the attention of French theater people as well. Thus, in 2015, at the suggestion of director Ludovic Lagarde, he writes the text "Baraca", especially for the TERRORisms project, initiated by the "Union of Theaters in Europe" and financed by the Creative Europe Program, which was staged at the Comedy Theater in Reims.

In Oradea, the text "Baraca" will be staged in its national premiere and will benefit from the directorial vision of Tudor Lucanu, a young, versatile man who has conquered the Romanian theater scene both as a director, as an actor and as a set designer. His success has resulted in several important awards, including the for best director ANDand the best show at the Oradea Short Theatre Festival, for the show "You're an animal, Viskovitz" and, also at the same festival, the award for best director for the show "The Emigrants", a production of the Cluj-Napoca National Theatre.

The show "Baraca" tells the story of two French men, Mare and Mic, who do not have many professional prospects and decide to create homemade bombs in pressure cookers. Their initiative, apparently without much chance of success, turns into a real business as the experiments bear fruit and a few reliable partners join them. They create relationships with the Islamic world and benefit from the tacit support of the French authorities. In order to camouflage the illegal bomb-making laboratory, simply called "Baraca", they set up a shop in front of the factory to sell gas masks, which becomes, paradoxically and absolutely ironically, the main supplier of the Ministry of Health.

Describing this den of grand banditry, "The Shack" sheds light, with a wry sense of humor, on one of the biggest problems of today's society: terrorist attacks fueled by the compromises of politicians, the duplicity of major markets, backstage games, and the vileness of people who let themselves be seduced by the power of money.

The cast includes actors Alexandru Rusu (Mare), Pavel Sîrghi (Mic), Alina Leonte (Virginia), Ciprian Ciuciu (Bosco), George Dometi (Chinezu') and Sorin Ionescu (Marwani).

Those who cannot make it to the premiere are welcome to the next performances of the show, which will take place on Wednesday, March 15 – as part of the UNITER "Artists for Artists" campaign – and on Saturday, March 25, from 7:00 PM, at the Arcadia Hall.
