Eva Heyman – premiere
"We're thinking of you, Eva Heyman!" 

The Regina Maria Theater invites you to the premiere of a special show, which illustrates a fragment of the history of the city of Oradea, but also of the entire world: "Eva Heyman", dramatization, concept and direction: Emil Sauciuc and Ioana-Maria Repciuc, which will take place on Sunday, November 21, from 6:00 PM, at the Arcadia Hall.

Eva Heyman, often associated with Anne Frank, who suffered the same cruel fate, is a Jewish girl from Oradea, who meets her tragic end at the age of 13 in the Auschwitz camp. A few months before being deported, she begins to write a diary, where she records thoughts, feelings, aspirations, but also incidents and events that capture and recreate the reality of a changing world, generated by the Nazi invasion and the anti-Semitic hatred that they spread around them. Thus, among the lines written, with great lucidity, by a child-observer, who hopes, loves, dreams, one reads her fear, despair and helplessness, that of her peers, marginalized and condemned, but also the attitude of the others, the so-called "Aryans", some transformed into executioners, others into helpers. The diary was smuggled out of the ghetto where the Jews were forcibly moved by the family's cook and then given to Eva's mother, who survived the Holocaust. Agnes Heyman decided to publish her daughter's notes, which are an authentic testimony that will always stand guard so that such atrocities are not forgotten and never repeated.

The show staged at the Regina Maria Theater is a dramatization of the diary and has a double mission: to pay homage to Eva Heyman, the brave and insightful little girl who fell victim to a coercive system, and to join, along with other notes, documents, historical monuments and Jewish buildings in Oradea, in the circuit of testimonies-manifesto against such atrocities.

The show takes the form of a monodrama, which respects the chronology of the biographical notes, oscillating between revealing the little girl's most intimate thoughts and recording events that reconstruct a complex historical picture, in which Oradea in 1944 and the tragedy of a people, despised and unjustly massacred, are portrayed, thus also assuming a fundamentally bibliographical aspect.

The role of Eva Heyman is played by actress Ioana-Maria Repciuc, also from Oradea, who is performing for the first time as a professional actor on the stage of the Regina Maria Theater:

Eva is definitely a big challenge for me. I always get totally involved in every role I approach. With Eva it was something more than that. From the first moment I felt an immense responsibility and a kind of duty towards this little girl. She wanted her story to be known by leaving a diary that she guarded sacredly. I try, as I can, to fulfill her wish. (Ioana-Maria Repciuc)

 The dramatization and direction are signed by actor Emil Sauciuc, in collaboration with Ioana-Maria Repciuc:

A few years ago I discovered Eva Heyman's diary and read it, devouring it. It captivated me so much that I started dramatizing it immediately after reading it. It was perfect for the stage... Working on it I discovered a lot about Eva's character, about her relationship with her parents and relatives, with her friends, but also with the partially demented, bloody society that was permeated with death and dehumanization.

Our show is a manifesto against the horrors of the contemporary world. The murder of Jews by torture and gassing happened so close to us, to this era, that it terrifies me. (Emil Sauciuc)

The scenography is by Ilinca Ghimbasan, and the projection and soundtrack by Ioana-Maria Repciuc.

Tickets for the premiere have already been sold, but you can still purchase them for the next performance, which will take place on November 30, from 6:00 PM, at the Arcadia Hall, either at the theater's agency, open from Tuesday to Friday between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, or online at Eventim.ro, or one hour before at the Arcadia Hall (within the limit of available seats).

According to the new regulations in force, access to the performance halls is allowed only for people vaccinated against the SARS-COV-2 virus, for whom 10 days have passed since the completion of the complete vaccination schedule, people who present a certificate attesting that they are between the 15th and 180th day following confirmation of infection with SARS-CoV-2, and minors under 12 years of age. Wearing a protective mask is mandatory for the entire duration of the event (from entering the foyer until leaving the building).
