The Arcadia troupe of the Regina Maria Theater invites you on Saturday, December 18 to the premiere of a splendid atmospheric show, in which the play of light, shadow and color creates a magical world, in which the spectators will be completely absorbed: "The Snow Queen and the Enchanted Mirror", after Hans Christian Andersen, dramatized and directed by Iulian Bulancea.

The text of the show is based on the fairy tale "The Snow Queen" by the great Danish author of children's literature, Hans Christian Andersen, and preserves the main epic thread of the well-known story, which it frames in a frame story and puts through a process of dramatic transformation, adapting the text to both the rules of the stage and the aesthetic universe proposed by director Iulian Bulancea.

„"We selected from the multitude of meanings and valences of the fairy tale, the simplest and most powerful ones, which would be easily identified by our target audience: children. That's how it came about." The Snow Queen and the Magic Mirror, the text that underlies our show, which is about the power of friendship and love, about the ability to overcome any obstacle, even if our main character, Gerda, is seen by everyone as "just a little girl". The theatrical method by which the story comes to life on the stage of the Arcadia Theater is one that is less used in Europe: namely shadow theater, considered to be the first animation process, which developed starting in the 6th century AD, mainly in Asia.

„"Romania and the European space, except for Turkey, do not have a tradition regarding shadow theater. Maybe that is why it is used quite little as a means of theatrical expression. From my point of view, shadow theater is one of the most fascinating types of theater. The shadow itself is mysterious and evocative, implying the existence of both light and darkness. Together with the Arcadia Troupe, we only aim to enchant the spectators, telling them a beautiful story, with strong meanings, in a unique way." (Iulian Bulancea)

The cast includes actors Consuela Egyed, Armanca Serac, Zentania Lupșe, Florian Silaghi, Alexandru Pop, Igor Lungu, Andrei Fazecaș, the set design is by Răzvan Chendrean, and the musical illustration is by Iulian Bulancea.

Tickets for both premiere performances on December 18 and for the performance on December 19, starting at 10:00, have already been sold out, but you can still find tickets for the performance on December 19, starting at 12:00 at the theater agency (open Tuesday through Friday between 10:00 and 14:00), online at Eventim.ro or starting one hour before the show at the Arcadia Hall (subject to availability). The show is not recommended for children under 4 years old.

We remind you that access to the performance halls is allowed for people vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, for whom 10 days have passed since the completion of the complete vaccination schedule, people who present a negative result of an RT-PCR test no older than 72 hours or of a rapid antigen test (certified) no older than 48 hours, people who present a certificate attesting that they are between the 15th and 180th day following confirmation of infection with SARS-CoV-2 and minors under 12 years of age without presenting the evidence mentioned above. Also, wearing a protective mask is mandatory for the entire duration of the event (from entering the foyer until leaving the building).
