FIFTH PREMIERE OF THE IOSIF VULCAN TROPE OF THE 2016-2017 SEASON

The Regina Maria Theater is pleased to announce the fifth premiere of the Iosif Vulcan Troupe of the 2016-2017 season: "Isabela, three caravels and a great liar", by Dario Fo, directed by Eugen Gyemant, which will take place on Saturday, January 21, at 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall.

Dario Fo (born March 24, 1926, Sangiano, Italy – died October 13, 2016, Milan), a contemporary playwright, set designer and actor, is a complex artistic personality, being particularly renowned for his dramatic texts of political and social satire. He was a laureate of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1997, but his subversive humor also created a series of problems for him, so that he often had to face censorship, death threats, bans and even criticism from the Catholic Church.

One of his most successful works is the comedy "Isabela, three caravels and a great liar" (1963). Appreciated by the specialized critics, even registering success at the international level, it was not, however, safe from controversy. The text is built on the structure of real facts, around a dominant historical figure: Christopher Columbus, but under the sign of parody - from which, incidentally, the comic is born - and not of historical rigor, which sparked a series of harsh reactions from right-wing partisans.

The show that comes to life on the stage of the Oradea theater enjoys three considerable advantages: the young and effervescent directorial vision of Eugen Gyemant, the artistic talent of the set and graphic designer Tudor Prodan (the one who created the image of the HOP Gala in 2015), both of whom are collaborating for the first time with the Regina Maria Theater, and an exceptional cast: Richard Balint, Ioana Dragoș Gajdo, Alina Leonte, Petre Ghimbășan, Sorin Ionescu and Alexandru Rusu.

Tickets are on sale at the Theatre Ticket Agency from Tuesday to Friday between 10:00 and 19:00, and on weekends between 10:00 and 13:00. You can also purchase tickets one hour before the show or online at www.biletmaster.roFor additional information and ticket reservations, please call: 0259/440.742.
