The third premiere this year of the "Iosif Vulcan" Troupe: "...Escu", by Tudor Mușatescu
The Iosif Vulcan troupe of the "Regina Maria" Theater is preparing for its third premiere this year: "…I am afraid.", by Tudor Mușatescu, directed by Claudiu Goga, which will take place on Sunday, March 31, at 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall.
Biting satirical comedy, "...Escu" is among the most valuable plays by playwright Tudor Mușatescu. The action takes place around 1933 and follows the events of "Titanic Waltz". Thus, we have as our main character Decebal (the youngest son of the civil servant Spirache Necșulescu, now an adult), an upstart politician, who changes his party color with the same frequency as he changes his tie and who, as the name of the play suggests, is just a shield, devoid of both personal convictions and scruples. His aspirations aim at the position of minister, to obtain which he is capable of resorting to any means. Cunning and persevering, he knows when and how to use circumstances to place himself in the most advantageous position, through demagogy, intrigue and manipulation. Moreover, all members of Decebal's family are part, individually and collectively, of the Caragiale typologies and archetypes, creating together an alert and intense comedy.
The show is staged by the renowned director Claudiu Goga, winner of a UNITER award since his debut, whose directorial conception is notable for performances rewarded with numerous awards for Best DirectorThis is his second collaboration with the "Regina Maria" Theater, after he staged the show "After the Rain" by Sergi Belbel in Oradea in 2006.
The cast of the show includes the following actors: Sorin Ionescu (Decebal Necşulescu), Șerban Borda (Bébé Damian), Denisa Vlad (Nina Damian), Anda Tămășanu (Amélie), Elvira Rîmbu (Miza General Stamatescu), Petre Ghimbășan (General Stamatescu), Alin Stanciu (Traian Necşulescu), Sebastian Lupu (Iorgu Langada), George Dometi (Platon Stamatescu), Pavel Sîrghi (a commissioner) Alexandru Rusu (Fane/ Pișilică), Eugen Neag (Fane/ Pișilică), Mirela Niță Lupu (Mitzi), Adela Lazar (Ana), Andrian Locovei (a guard).
The team is completed by Lia Dogaru, who creates the show's set and Amalia Buie, who creates the costumes. Minela Popa is also part of the creative team - as make a designer -, artist who in 2013 won the GOPO award for best makeup in the film "Somewhere in Palilula".
