Premiere date: October 8, 1987
„"In the central character of the play – Grămescu – we recognize a common type in current comedy: an insul who takes from society with both hands without giving anything in return. Having reached a certain social level – in this case, the head of a local craft cooperative – the specimen loses all control over his own egoism, establishing himself as master over his subordinates (and over… their illicit income), changing secretaries according to erotic impulses and maintaining his conjugal unity through the material comfort created. Under these conditions, the instinct of preservation hypertrophies, the concern for concealing the truth, for preserving the position and implicitly the goods gained through it, becoming the almost exclusive concern. The successive visits and under different masks of the investigator Turbatu shed light on Grămescu's existential confusion, the absurdity of this existence based on insatiability, on the unlimited lust for hoarding and on the consequent fear of it. The humor, the caricature, the grotesque The situation results from the contradiction between the goal and the consequences: instead of producing peace and satisfaction, the goal achieved becomes a generator of fear and servitude, but once entered into this circuit of alienation, of dehumanization, the individual can no longer escape, he will act like an aberrant mechanism, heading towards an implacable failure." (Dumitru Chirilă, in "Familia", October 1987).
