SUCCESS IN BAIA MARE: Fiddler on the Roof
The Regina Maria Theatre had the great pleasure of opening the 20th edition of the International Theatre Festival "Atelier" in Baia Mare (which takes place from June 3 to 9) on Sunday, June 3. This is the seventh edition to be held in Baia Mare, the festival having also taken place in Sighișoara or Sfântu Gheorghe in previous years.
The ATELIER International Theatre Festival is an unconventional theatre event that aims to highlight the latest trends in contemporary dramaturgy, organised by the Baia Mare Municipal Theatre in collaboration with the League for Theatre. A competition is also held within the festival, with prizes, and our theatre has received prizes for each participation. In 2006, we participated with the show THE MERRY WIFE OF WINDSOR (by William Shakespeare, stage direction Victor-Ioan Frunză) and received the Best Direction Award (Victor-Ioan Frunză), the Best Supporting Actress Award: Ioana Dragoş Gajdo (with the role of Mrs Quickly) and the Best Music Award: Cari Tibor. In 2011, we participated with the show THIS CHILD (by Joel Pommerat, artistic direction Vlad Massaci), where we received the Best Supporting Actress Award – Corina Cernea.
At this edition, the Regina Maria Theatre participates with the now very successful show, THE FISTING MAN ON THE ROOF (adaptation after Sholom Aleichem, artistic direction by Korcsmaros Gyorgy), which delighted a packed hall of spectators who came to see the adventures of the milkman Tevye and the villagers of Anatevka. The intermissions at the end lasted no less than 10 minutes, thus demonstrating that the audience in Baia Mare properly appreciated a wonderful show, and we hope that at the end we will be rewarded with prizes.
For the Regina Maria Theatre, trips are now coming to Marghita (Arcadia Troupe is performing today, Tuesday, June 5, the show MUSICIANS OF BREMEN), to Beiuş (Crişana Professional Artistic Ensemble will perform the show IN MEMORIAM ELISABETA PAVEL – Thursday, June 7) and to Ştei (Iosif Vulcan Troupe is performing the show BALTAGUL – Friday, June 8). At home, the last show will be held on Sunday, June 10, at the Arcadia Hall, where the little ones are expected starting at 11:00 to see the show CAPRA CU TREI IEZI.
