Happy birthday to actors Petre Ghimbasan and Adela Lazăr
Today is the birthday of our colleagues, actors Adela Lazăr and Petre Ghimbășan.
Although they belong to different generations, Petre Ghimbășan and Adela Lazar are some of the most beloved actors of the Regina Maria Theater. Throughout their career, the two celebrants have brightened the hearts of the audience, most of the roles in which they were protagonists being meant to bring optimism, joy and smiles.
Petre Ghimbășan and Adela Lazar share not only the same birthday, but also the chance to practice a profession they never dreamed of, but which chose them at the right time.
Petre Ghimbasan
"I had finished my military service at the Romanian Railways and had taken a job as a turner at Steagul Roșu. I was working three shifts, feeling tired and, somehow, unfulfilled. I was missing something and I didn't know what," Petre recalls.
"I had come close to theater before the army, at the Popular School of Arts. The memory of those days, the atmosphere at the rehearsals, remained in my soul." Petre Ghimbășan decided to try his luck at the faculty in Târgu Mureș, where he would begin his studies in 1992, in the class of professor Ioan Sapdaru. After graduation, he would get a job in Baia Mare, where he would be noticed by actor Eugen Harizomenov, former manager of the Oradea theater. "You deserve more," he told him, convincing him to apply to Oradea. A city where he has remained to this day, to the delight of the audience that applauded him in over 50 performances. Although most of them were comedies or tragicomedies, Petre Ghimbășan also feels attracted to dramatic, complex, realistic psychological roles, the most recent such role being Erik Larsen, in the show Enigmatic Variations, by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, directed by Elvira Rîmbu.
"I treated all the roles seriously and I did them out of love for the audience. However, if I had to name scores that remained very close to my heart, it would be Estragon in Waiting for Godot, Clove in End of Game, or Vicente, in Cancun", recalls Petre. In his profession, as in his daily life, he was guided by a single intention: to bring to light everything that is most beautiful. This is how, along with horse riding and football, hobbies with a tradition in the actor's life, he developed a new passion, an unusual one. After the storm, when torrents of water bring down roots uprooted from trees, the actor walks through the forest and chooses the wood that inspires him. From various pieces of furniture to chandeliers, the roots take on a new life in his hands.
"I feel good in the forest, I feel good in the mountains, I feel good carving. Somehow this helps me come back to myself. To look at myself objectively. I think that's what every role is about, like this life. To always be able to go back to point 0."
Adela Lazar
Since she was a child, Adela Lazar was noted for her natural acting talent. She was a regular at recitation competitions, which she won, without any effort and without wanting any prize. This was because Adela did not dream of being an actress, but a teacher. She wanted to fulfill her mother's dream. She attended the Pedagogical High School in Târgu Mureș and fate crossed her path with a young woman who wrote plays. They teamed up and performed educational shows in schools. Inspired by her friend's desire to attend a theater faculty and encouraged by a colleague who had noticed her talent, Adela decided to try her luck at the Faculty of Theater Arts in Târgu Mureș, without preparing for the exam in advance. After all, she had promised her mother that she would do two years of final education so as not to waste her high school studies. "I showed up for the admissions relaxed, without expectations. I chose to say unsophisticated poems, poems that meant something to me." Rag, Winter on the Street, Zitea's monologue. Winter on the Street I had also failed the oral exam at my BAC. I think the naturalness with which I interpreted them mattered. "I entered the penultimate year and finished college first," Adela recalls. However, she did not forget the promise she made to her mother and, in order to be able to attend classes in parallel with her final year, Adela opted to teach children undergoing heart surgery at the Municipal Clinical Hospital. The greatest accomplishment in her short teaching career was teaching a first-grade girl to write. After graduating, the news reached Târgul Mureș that the Oradea theater had two positions open for competition. All the graduates of the year presented themselves in the city on Crișul Repede. Only one had come on a trip, thinking that she would not want to move to another city: Adela. "I remember that I stayed backstage for a long time and heard my colleagues' competition. I was still completely relaxed, I wanted to go home. I gave a recital from my third year, the character was a former actress who had become a housekeeper in the theater. I got dressed up, took my mop. "I later found out that the jury wondered when they saw me what the maid was doing on stage," Adela recalls. Thus began a career of more than 10 years, during which Adela delighted her audience in the most unusual ways. From roles in Lovers from Ancona, European Parliament Chirița or Fiddler on the Roof, roles with which viewers identify her, in the colorful paintings, in paintings or furniture items, or the beloved character Toppolina, who brought joy to dozens of children's birthdays. "Toppolina was born after, at the suggestion of a colleague from Arcadia, Igor Lungu, I agreed to dress up as a clown at a children's party. That's when I understood that little ones are scared of clowns, and adults don't respect them", says Adela. Inspired by an orange wig and the name of a central store, Adela will create the story character who is today the favorite of children. As for painting, another native talent, discovered since adolescence, the impetus to develop it came to her when she realized that the furniture in the room she was staying in did not match. And because she had the courage to paint it, her colleagues encouraged her to create paintings. "In important moments in my life, I met people who believed in me. People who saw my potential, people who encouraged me. From colleagues and friends, to my life partner, Sebi, who helped me at the beginning of my journey to promote my work, creating the right websites. That's why, in turn, I always try to encourage people and I strive to see the beautiful side of every person I meet," Adela confessed. "Life has given me many gifts. And the acting profession for me was a gift. A precious one, one that many only dream of. When you want something and get it, you tend to then create new desires, to chase after other goals. But when you receive something you never even dreamed of, you somehow owe it to yourself to enjoy and honor that gift. Life is about optimism and joy. Unfortunate events are meant to make us appreciate the beautiful things in our lives. Through everything I do, I try to give a smile, a drop of hope, the hope that it will be better. When you love what you do and when you work, it is impossible not to succeed," Adela confessed.
The audience can see Adela Lazar in the shows The Deer King, Fiddler on the Roof and Leonce and LenaPetre Ghimbasan can be applauded in Enigmatic Variations, The Deer King and Mr. Jordan.
