Oradea International Theatre Festival 2024. Awards and laureates of the XXVII edition of the Short Theatre Festival

The 9th edition of the Oradea International Theatre Festival has come to an end after 9 intense days of theatre! We enjoyed an excellent and rich selection of performances, concerts, related cultural events and beautiful artistic encounters.

This year the festival included three major sections:

  • GUEST SHOWS – OFF COMPETITION, a section dedicated to Oradea residents, which aims to bring to the audience extensive productions, which are among the best productions currently in theater.
  • OUTDOOR section – which aims to transform the street into a big stage and offer passersby a little bit of the magic of the theater. All outdoor events were free this year. The project was realized with the support of the Oradea Municipality and the Oradea Local Council.
  • The competition section – SHORT THEATRE FESTIVAL, reached its 27th edition this year. 18 performances from theaters in the country and abroad competed for the five awards awarded by the jury: the award for best actress, the award for best actor, the award for best direction, the award for best show and the award for best scenography.

The selection was made by the Management of the Regina Maria Theatre, with special thanks to the director of the Iosif Vulcan Troupe Victoria Balint and the manager of the Regina Maria Theatre Daniel Vulcu, and the jury was made up of three personalities from the theatrical world, namely: director Bobi Pricop, set designer Irina Moscu and actress Cosmina Stratan.

  • Csilla Albert for the role Elektra from the show "Elektra" at the Hungarian State Theatre Cluj-Napoca
  • Diana Văcaru-Lazăr and Cendana Trifan for the roles in the show "Mother", from the "Radu Stanca" National Theater in Sibiu
  • Blanca Doba for the role Knight from the show "Falsa Servitoare", from the "Maria Filotti" Theater in Brăila

The award for best actress goes to actress Csilla Albert, from the show "Elektra" from the Hungarian State Theatre Cluj-Napoca.

  • Lucian Ionescu for the role Hedwig from the show "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", from the "Stela Popescu" Theater in Bucharest
  • Emilian Oprea and Ciprian Chiricheș for the roles Traveling, respectively Lelio from the show "Falsa Servitoare", from the "Maria Filotti" Theater in Brăila
  • Matei Chioariu for the role Michel from the show "The Truth", from the "Mihai Eminescu" National Theatre Timișoara

The award for best actor goes to actor Lucian Ionescu, for his role as Hedwig in the show "Hedwig and the Angry Inch". from the "Stela Popescu" Theater in Bucharest

  • Award for Best Set Design

  • Golicza Előd and Bajkó Blanka Alíz for the set and costumes for the show "The Dispossessed", from the Csokonai National Theatre Debrecen, Hungary
  • Adrian Balcău for the set design of the show "Who Killed Dad?", from the Metropolis Theater, Bucharest
  • Dragoș Buhagiar for the set design of the show "Elektra", from the Hungarian State Theatre Cluj-Napoca

The award for best scenography goes to scenographer Dragoș Buhagiar for the scenography of the show "Elektra", from the Hungarian State Theatre Cluj-Napoca.

  • Andrei Măjeri for directing the show "Who killed my father?", from the Metropolis Theater, Bucharest
  • Botond Nagy for directing the show "Elektra", from the Hungarian State Theatre Cluj-Napoca
  • Diana Mititelu for directing the show "Games in the Backyard", from the Constanța State Theater

The award for best direction goes to director Andrei Măjeri, for directing the show "Who Killed My Father?", from the Metropolis Theater, Bucharest.

  • "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", directed by Răzvan Mazilu, from the "Stela Popescu" Theater in Bucharest
  • "Elektra", directed by Botond Nagy, from the Hungarian State Theatre Cluj-Napoca
  • "The False Servant", directed by Alexandru Mâzgăreanul, from the "Maria Filotti" Theatre in Brăila

The award for best show goes to the show "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", from the "Stela Popescu" Theater in Bucharest

The jury decided to award a special jury prize this year, which goes to the team of actors from the show "Who Killed My Father?", dramatization by Mihaela Michailov based on the novel of the same name by Édouard Louis, directed by Andrei Măjeri, from the Metropolis Theater, Bucharest.

The "Iosif Vulcan" troupe of the Regina Maria Theater in Oradea presents on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall, the premiere of the show "An Enemy of the People", adaptation by Thomas Ostermeier and Florian Borchmeyer after Henrik Ibsen, directed by Radu Iacoban.

The cast consists of: Alina Leonte (Katharina Stockmann), Richard Balint (Peter Stockmann), Răzvan Vicoveanu (Thomas Stockmann), Gabriela Codrea (Nina Aslaksen), Elvira Rîmbu (Marta Kill), Alin Stanciu (Hovstad) and Tudor Manea (Billing).
