PREMIERE ON THE EDGE OF THE FESTIVAL | THE DEER KING, after Carlo Gozzi, directed by Alexandru Colpacci

The Regina Maria Theater has the great pleasure of inviting you on Sunday, September 24, from 7:00 PM, to the Great Hall to celebrate together two great theatrical events: the official opening of the 5th edition of the Oradea International Theater Festival and the premiere of the show "The Stag King", after Carlo Gozzi, artistic direction Alexandru Colpacci.

It has already become a tradition for the Oradea theater festival to open with a premiere by the Regina Maria Theater, and this year is no exception. "The Stag King", one of the ten theatrical fairy tales written by Carlo Gozzi, will give the opening gong and introduce us to the extraordinary universe of fantasy.

The play revolves around the image of King Deramo, who is convinced by Prime Minister Trataglia that he must marry in order to leave an heir to the throne. To this end, he organizes a series of meetings with girls from all over the kingdom, regardless of their social status. With the help of magic tricks, he manages to find his chosen one. However, this is not a happy ending, but the very beginning of a series of increasingly bizarre entanglements.

The Oradea show will keep the thread of the classic story, but under the careful guidance of director Alexandru Colpacci, Carlo Gozzi's theatrical fairy tale metamorphoses into a unique story, which ingeniously combines classical thinking with contemporary elements. Magic, science, technology, love stories, political intrigues, miraculous transformations, all of these will meet on the same plane: the theater stage, to recreate a mythical and fascinating world, with comic and dramatic nuances at the same time.

Alexandru Colpacci is a renowned director who does not need much introduction to the Oradea audience. He debuted at the Oradea theater with the show "Dispariţia lui Galy Gay (Un Om = Un Om)", by Bertolt Brecht in 1970. He has staged 20 shows in Oradea, the most recent of which was "La grande magia", by Eduardo de Filippo in 2010, and now he returns after seven years with fresh strength and much enthusiasm with "King of the Stag", proposing another bold project that will surely conquer the hearts of the audience.

The cast of the show includes the following actors: Andrian Locovei, Răzvan Vicoveanu, Angela Tanko, Richard Balint, Petre Ghimbășan, Emil Sauciuc, Alina Leonte, Ciprian Ciuciu, Sebastian Lupu, Adela Lazar, George Dometi, George Voinese, Tiberiu Covaci, Armanca Serac, Zentania Lupșe, Alexandru Pop, Andrei Fazecaș, Florin Stan and Igor Lungu. The scenography is by Vioara Bara, the choreography by Dimény Levente and the musical illustration by Delia Serban.

Tickets are on sale at the Theatre Ticket Office, open from Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 to 19:00, and on weekends from 10:00 to 13:00. You can also purchase tickets starting one hour before the show or online at www.biletmaster.ro. For additional information and ticket reservations, please call: 0259/440.742.

On the 50th anniversary of the first theater festival in Oradea – Short Theatre Week, the Regina Maria Theatre announces the selection of the 10th edition of the Oradea International Theatre Festival (FITO), financed by the Bihor County Council, which will take place between 11–20 September 2026. This year's anniversary edition brings to the fore a broad and diverse program, built around the two already established sections: the 28th edition of the Short Theatre Festival and the 6th edition of the Arcadia Children's Theatre Festival, which resumes after an 8-year break. The program of performances will be supported by a series of other events that will transform FITO into a meeting place between artists, professionals in the field of performing arts and the public.
