The Oradea International Theater Festival opened with a roar of applause for the premiere of the show "The Stag King", an adaptation of Carlo Gozzi's theatrical fairy tale, directed by Alexandru Colpacci at the Regina Maria Theater.
During the opening ceremony, the prize for the "Dramatic Creation Competition Dedicated to Short Play" was also awarded, which, at the decision of the jury formed by the editor-in-chief of Familia Magazine - Ioan Moldovan and theater critics Claudiu Groza and Elisabeta Pop, was offered to Ms. Crista Bilciu, for the text "Sub-Soul".
Today, September 25, on the second day of the festival, we invite you to enjoy four extraordinary shows. The day will start at 5:00 PM, at the Bihor National Tourist Information and Promotion Center (former studio hall) with a one-woman show written and directed by the winner of the "Dramatic Creation Competition", Ms. Crista Bilciu. The show "Half a Song" tells the story of Francesca (Anda Saltelechi), following the course of her life from 5 to 33 years old, in nine scenes, each capturing an age, a universe, an event that matters and can shape or break a destiny.
From 7:00 PM, spectators are invited to the Great Hall of the Theatre to enjoy the most beloved musical of the Regina Maria Theatre: "The Fiddler on the Roof". From the same time, at the Arcadia Hall, "Three Other Sisters" cry, laugh, dance, love and wait... for the audience to share the emotion of the show. A production of the "Ion D. Sîrbu" Dramatic Theatre from Petroșani, in the cast of which you will be able to see Simona Codreanu again, who also played on the stage of the Oradea theatre for two years.
The evening ends with a performance by the Baia Mare Municipal Theater: "Edmond", after David Mamet, directed by Andrei Dinu, which will be played from 9:00 PM, at the Trade Unions' Culture House, a painful odyssey, in which the protagonist accumulates experiences and sensations, crossing brothels and nightclubs, without losing his strength, even if it is cynical, to dream.

On the 50th anniversary of the first theater festival in Oradea – Short Theatre Week, the Regina Maria Theatre announces the selection of the 10th edition of the Oradea International Theatre Festival (FITO), financed by the Bihor County Council, which will take place between 11–20 September 2026. This year's anniversary edition brings to the fore a broad and diverse program, built around the two already established sections: the 28th edition of the Short Theatre Festival and the 6th edition of the Arcadia Children's Theatre Festival, which resumes after an 8-year break. The program of performances will be supported by a series of other events that will transform FITO into a meeting place between artists, professionals in the field of performing arts and the public.
