Christmas in the Land of Dolls_Arcadia Troupe
The Arcadia troupe of the Regina Maria Theater is preparing for a new festival: "Christmas in the Land of Puppets", which will take place at the Arcadia Theater from December 4 to 22, 2022. A remake, guest performances, storytelling workshops, carols and decorations, meetings with Santa Claus will complete the festival program and create a magical atmosphere.
The Land of Dolls will open its enchanted doors for young spectators with a winter show, created from lights and shadows: "The Snow Queen and the Enchanted Mirror" and will continue on a playful note with thematic and puppet shows. Among these is a remake of the show "Santa's Sleigh", based on a text written by Andreea Costea and directed by Igor Lungu, which will take us through the immortal stories of childhood and will bring a new perspective on the negative characters in fairy tales, who are challenged to do good deeds to save Christmas.
The festival program will also be enriched with three guest performances. The "Merlin" Children and Youth Theater from Timișoara invites us to enjoy "The New Story of Little Red Riding Hood", the "Puck" Puppet Theater from Cluj-Napoca with "Puss in Boots", and the Liliput Troupe of the Szigligeti Theater awaits toddlers aged 0-3 with "Gloves and Little Feet".
In addition to entertaining and educational shows, puppeteers, skilled craftsmen, await us for play and games, with a series of workshops for children, designed to develop their creative skills: acting, musical and practical. The "Christmas Stories with Puppets" workshops propose an interactive and recreational way of reading stories, in which children will transform from spectators into actors and will have small roles to fulfill throughout the reading. At the Carol Workshop, the little participants will discover the beauty of old and new carols and will thoroughly prepare for Christmas Eve, and at the Decoration Workshops they will have the opportunity to create holiday decorations from felt and other friendly materials, which they will take home to place on the tree, decorate their room or give as a gift to someone dear to them.
In the last week of the festival, after we researched and discovered with the help of stories how we should be at Christmas, who Santa Claus is and what the greatest treasures in the world are, we prepared for the holidays by learning carols and making decorations, we will meet Santa. In an enchanting setting, which will welcome us warmly from the beginning of the festival, he will stop and listen to the wishes of every child who will have the courage to step into the land of dolls.
