PRESS RELEASE | First premiere of the 2025-2026 season at Arcadia Troupe

The Arcadia troupe of the Regina Maria Theater announces the first premiere of the 2025-2026 season: "Thumbelina", after Hans Christian Andersen, dramatized and directed by: Toma Hogea, which will have two performances on September 27, at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, at the Arcadia Hall.

"Thumbelina" is one of the most famous fairy tales by Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen, first published in 1835 in the volume Eventyr, told for Børn. First Samling. Andet Heft., which is still found in children's reading preferences. The story of the little girl miraculously born to fulfill the burning desire of a kind-hearted woman, who goes through a journey of adulthood until she finds her happiness, has been a source of inspiration for theater performances and film scripts over time. In Oradea, it is staged for the first time and benefits from a new dramatization, with new situations and characters, which will highlight the main themes of the story and bring it closer to the thinking and expectations of children today.

The dramatization and direction are signed by Toma Hogea, a multi-talented artistic personality, actor, university professor, writer, and renowned director in Romanian animation theater. He also staged the show "A Ray of Sun" in Oradea, which is being performed successfully. "Degețica" is a title he has been thinking about for several years and which he chose for Oradea because it is certain that it will be very well received and that the show will have a long life.

The show is conceived in Music-Hall style, dynamically combining spoken scenes and moments of animation with musical and choreographic sequences. The original story line remains recognizable, but the atmosphere of the show takes on a new note through the appearance of surprise characters, familiar from other fairy tales, but reinterpreted in an unexpected key: The Cloanța becomes a sympathetic character and even capable of affection, the Good Fairy surprises with unusual gestures, and the mischievous little horse acquires a magical and angelic aura.

The show's scenography is by Emese Csüri, the puppets and props by Răzvan Chendrean, the original music is by composer Cári Tibor, double laureate of the UNITER award, the choreography is by Levente Dimény, and the projections are created by Sebastian Țineghe.

All tickets for both premiere performances have been sold out. New performances of the show "Degețica" are scheduled, so we invite you to follow us on the website https://www.teatrulreginamaria.ro/ and on the social media pages of the Regina Maria Theatre – Arcadia Troupe. Tickets can be purchased from the theatre agency (Piața Regele Ferdinand I, no. 6) and online on the Poftim Cultură platform.

We look forward to seeing you at the theater!
