Press release | "Tartuffe" premiere

The Regina Maria Theater invites you on Sunday, September 19, from 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall, to the first premiere of the 2021-2022 season: "Tartuffe", by Molière, directed by Vlad Trifaș.

Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, known to the whole world by his stage name Molière, is considered one of the greatest writers of French origin and a master of satirical comedy. He wrote some of the most penetrating comedies of all time, which, thanks to the universal subjects they develop, but also the new keys of directorial interpretation that can be explored, are played on theater stages around the world with the same success even now, more than 300 years after his death.

"Tartuffe" is part of Molière's series of character comedies and exposes religious hypocrisy, which is why it sparked much controversy when it was first presented to the public. Despite this, it eventually became one of Molière's most performed plays, with such a great impact that the character's name was substantivized in French and designates a hypocrite, a person who lies.

In Oradea, the show "Tartuffe" will be staged by Vlad Trifas, one of the representatives of the new generation of theatrical creators, who comes with an energy and an innovative perspective, without losing the balance between classic and contemporary. He has staged shows of several types over time, but a predilection for classical texts, to which he gives a fresh reverberation, is still evident.

The show "Tartuffe", as director Vlad Trifaș sees it, it is an adaptation of Molière's play, which, even though it retains the subject, main themes and comic nature, brings out new meanings and nuances the dramatic aspect more subtly, starting from the idea that: "Monsters don't exist unless we create them!".

In addition to directing, Vlad Trifaș also adapted the text and composed the original music for the show. The creative team also includes set designer Oana Cernea and light designer Bogdan Gheorghiu. From distribution The actors are: Corina Cernea (Mrs. Pernelle), Richard Balint (Orgon), Angela Tanko (Elmire), Ciprian Ciuciu (Damis), Mihaela Gherdan (Mariane), Alin Stanciu (Valère), Pavel Sîrghi (Cléante), Răzvan Vicoveanu (Tartuffe), Lucia Rogoz (Dorine), Sebastian Lupu (Mr. Loyal) and Andrian Locovei (Laurent).

The next performances will take place on September 20, October 6 and 31, from 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall. Tickets are already on sale at the theater agency (open Tuesday to Friday between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM or one hour before the performances) and online at Eventim.ro.

We look forward to seeing you at the theater!
