Opening of the 2021-2022 season | September schedule

The Regina Maria Theater announces the opening of the new season, in which you will be able to revisit successful shows from the repertoire of past years, as well as new productions, from both the Iosif Vulcan Troupe and the Arcadia Troupe.

Iosif Vulcan Crew

The season at the Iosif Vulcan Troupe begins on Tuesday, September 7, at 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall, with the resumption of a show long awaited by the Oradea audience, which will be played on the Oradea theater stage after more than a year of hiatus: the comedy "...Escu", by Tudor Mușatescu, directed by Claudiu Goga.

On September 19, at 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall, the first premiere of the season will take place: "Tartuffe" by Molière. The most performed play by the great French writer is directed by Vlad Trifaș, one of the representatives of the new generation of theatrical creators, who gives the text a fresh vision, not only by bringing it up to the current speed of information transfer, but also by the different perspective with which he relates to it. Even though he maintains the subject, the main themes and the comic nature of the play, he brings to the surface new meanings and nuances the dramatic aspect more subtly, starting from the idea that: "Monsters don't exist if we don't create them!". The next performance is scheduled for September 20, also at 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall.

On September 21, from 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall we invite you to revisit one of the premieres of the last season: the show "The Legacy of Luck", by Thanasis Papathanasiou and Mihalis Reppas, directed by Radu Nichifor, a comedy in which the humor completely captivates you, but exposes a truly tragic background.

On Friday, September 24, from 7:00 PM, at the Arcadia Hall, the show "Three Tall Women" will be performed, a masterpiece of contemporary theater, which captures three women of different ages, whose destinies intersect and evolve in a surprising direction. The show earned director Diana Păcurar a nomination at the 2021 UNITER Awards Gala, in the category debut.

Arcadia Crew

The Arcadia troupe begins the new season with one of the most beautiful stories in the universal canon: "Beauty and the Beast", on Saturday, September 4, at 11:00 AM, at the Arcadia Hall.

The newest premiere of the troupe could not be missing from the September program, especially since it is a show so loved by children: "The Boy Who Could Bite His Nose", by Alex Moldovan, a show by Selma Dragoș (director) and Smaranda Găbudeanu (choreography). A funny and educational story about a little boy who has an incredible superpower, unique in the world, multiverse and any verse, but is misunderstood by adults – Thursday, September 9 and Wednesday, September 15, from 7:00 PM, in Orășelul Copiilor.

Two other classic stories, of particular beauty, complete the September program: "Hansel and Gretel", the story of the two children abandoned in the forest, who fall into the hands of an evil witch, who has a gingerbread house, will be performed on Saturday, September 11, at 11:00 AM, at the Arcadia Hall, and "Pinocchio", the story of the most famous puppet in the world, on Saturday, September 18, also at 11:00 AM, at the Arcadia Hall.

Tickets have already been put on sale and can be purchased from the theater agency (Tuesday-Friday: 3:00 PM-7:00 PM), online at Eventim.ro or starting one hour before each show, on site (within the limit of available seats).

We look forward to seeing you at the theater!

On the 50th anniversary of the first theater festival in Oradea – Short Theatre Week, the Regina Maria Theatre announces the selection of the 10th edition of the Oradea International Theatre Festival (FITO), financed by the Bihor County Council, which will take place between 11–20 September 2026. This year's anniversary edition brings to the fore a broad and diverse program, built around the two already established sections: the 28th edition of the Short Theatre Festival and the 6th edition of the Arcadia Children's Theatre Festival, which resumes after an 8-year break. The program of performances will be supported by a series of other events that will transform FITO into a meeting place between artists, professionals in the field of performing arts and the public.
