The Regina Maria Theatre is pleased to announceÞthe premiere of the show "Cactus Flower" by Pierre Barillet and Pierre Grédy, directed by Daniel Vulcu, which will take place on Sunday, September 24, at 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall.

Pierre Barillet and Pierre Grédy are two French writers who have become an emblematic tandem of boulevard theater. Their prolific collaboration began in the 1940s, and "Cactus Flower" is one of their joint projects that enjoyed enormous success, especially on Broadway.

"Cactus Flower" is one of those comedies that never goes out of style. Romantic, humorous and spicy, the comedy was successfully played both on stage and in cinema, the first screen version being rewarded with an Oscar, a Bafta Awards nomination and an award and four Golden Globe nominations.

The show tells the story of a career dentist, a bit of a dresser, who falls in love with a pretty girl, with whom he "gets along very well". But since he doesn't want a serious commitment under any circumstances, he finds a solution that makes him invulnerable, at least that's what he thinks: he lies to her that he's married and has three children. Up until this point, everything seems to be going according to plan, but things get complicated when he realizes that he actually wants a future with her. So he throws himself into a game of false identities and lies, from which it's a bit difficult to save himself. Luckily, he has his devoted assistant by his side, who helps him find his own happy ending.

The show features actors Răzvan Vicoveanu, Lucia Rogoz, Georgia Căprărin, George Dometi, Alexandru Rusu, Gabriela Codrea, Daniel Vulcu and Anca Sigmirean, and the extras include Adeline Tripa, Nicolae Segărceanu, Cristian Segărceanu, Cristian Domide, Sorin Mudura and Argentina Fodor.

The stage direction of the show belongs to Daniel Vulcu, the current manager of the Regina Maria Theater. He is an appreciated actor, with 40 years of experience in professional theater, and is also known as a theater director, signing shows that have been played for more than 10 years, such as "And Ministers Walk Crookedly", by Ray Cooney. Over time, he has shown a special preference for comedy and cabaret, in both artistic guises – both as an actor and as a director.

For me, directing is a passion and, like any passion, I do it with joy and ease. I don't get worked up and I try to convey a good mood to everyone I work with. I never set out to leave the comedy area, because it is an area that I master and I love performing in it.

The set design is by Florina Belinda Vasilatos, who served as set designer at the Szigligeti Theatre for 21 years and also collaborates with other theatres in the country and Hungary. This is not her first collaboration with the Regina Maria Theatre-Iosif Vulcan Troupe in 2015, when she created, together with Ianis Vasilatos, the innovative set design for the show "The Cherry Orchard".

The choreography is done by Dimény Levente, actor at the Szigligeti Oradea Theater, director and choreographer, and the musical preparation is done by Lăcrimioara Deac, teacher of light music singing at the "Francisc Hubic" School of Arts within the Cultural Center of Bihor County and founder and president of the Art Group Music Cultural Association.

Both Lăcrimioara Deac and Dimény Levente are in their second collaboration with the Regina Maria Theatre in the last two seasons, also providing the musical preparation and choreography for the show The Cage of Fools.

The creative team of the show also includes the accordionist from Oradea, Alin Răsădean, a graduate of the "Gheorghe Dima" National Academy of Music, Cluj-Napoca, who is taking the stage of the Regina Maria Theater for the first time.

There are no more seats available for the premiere, but the next two performances of the show have been put on sale, which will take place on October 5 and 29, from 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall. Tickets can be purchased from the theater agency (open Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM or one hour before the performances) and online at Eventim.ro.
