FIRST PREMIERE OF THE SEASON – THE EVENING OF AJUN
The "Regina Maria" Theater invites you to the premiere of the show "Seara de ajun", which will take place on Tuesday, September 8, at 7:00 PM, at Moara de Răsărit. "Seara de ajun", a contemporary text by Anthony Neilson, is staged by director Ovidiu Caiţa, who is in his second collaboration with the theater, the first project realized here being the show BILOXI BLUES in the 2011-2012 season, which enjoyed extraordinary success.
The author of the dramatic text, Anthony Neilson (born 1967 in Edinburgh), is a Scottish playwright and director, known as a visceral force in contemporary theatre. A proponent of theatre that calls things by their proper names, he has created provocative plays and performances, tackling themes such as sex, violence and mental illness.
„"The Night Before Christmas" is a hilarious anti-pantomime that, starting from the pretext of some commercial clichés related to the Christmas holiday: gifts, toys, elves, lights, magic dust, wishes, penetrates a reality different from the apparent magic of the holiday, namely, that of disillusioned people, who are on the verge of completely losing their faith and the desire to fight for their dreams. In such a reality, Christmas is demystified, emptied of its magical background, and only retains its commercial form. For this reason, the appearance of a (possible) elf sparks a whole controversy. The entire conflict revolves around the uncertainty of the identity of this miraculous intruder: is he or is he Santa Claus's elf? On the other hand, the question arises whether the three people - the owner of the toy store Gary, his skeptical friend Simon and the prostitute Cherry - will regain their hope.
The cast includes the following actors: Răzvan Vicoveanu, Alin Stanciu, Andrei Sabău and Mihaela Gherdan. The next performance of the show will take place on Thursday, September 10, at 7:00 PM, at Moara Răsărit.
Tickets went on sale at the theater's Ticket Agency from Monday to Friday between 10:00 and 16:00, and on Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 and 13:00 and online at www.biletmaster.ro. Starting from September 1, the Ticket Agency returns to its normal schedule, namely: Monday to Friday between 10:00 and 19:00, and on weekends between 10:00 and 13:00. This year's anniversary edition brings to the fore a broad and diverse program, built around the two already established sections: the 28th edition of the Short Theatre Festival and the 6th edition of the Arcadia Children's Theatre Festival, which resumes after an 8-year break. The program of performances will be supported by a series of other events that will transform FITO into a meeting place between artists, professionals in the field of performing arts and the public.
