For the 2012-2013 season, at the Regina Maria Theatre in Oradea you will encounter both new productions, which will delight audiences of all ages ("Ţiganiada", "La Iunion, birjar!" or "A twelfth night"), but also the star shows from the previous season, such as "Fiddler on the Roof", "Zbor srepăr unui nest de cuckoo" or "Biloxi Blues".

The 2012-2013 season opened with the premiere of the 18th Edition of the Short Theatre Festival, the play EQUUS (by Peter Shaffer, directed by Szabo K. Istvan) – the story of a psychiatrist who tries to treat a young man who has a pathological religious fascination with horses. Shaffer was inspired to write EQUUS after hearing about a shocking incident: a 17-year-old blinded six horses in a small town near Suffolk. The playwright built a fictional history of the causes that could have caused the incident, without knowing any other details about it. The action of the play is similar to a detective story, in which psychiatrist Martin Dysart tries to understand the causes of the boy's actions, while struggling with conflicting feelings about his personal life.

The second show that we propose to the Oradea audience is TIME IS COMING SOON (by Line Knutzon, directed by Radu Afrim), a tragicomedy about the daily problems of modern man and how they affect his life as a couple. Deadlines and schedules that guide our lives, appointments and clocks everywhere, from our wrists to the screens of our mobile phones. The more annoyingly the seconds tick, the more aware we are of the fact that we live in time, which is why Hilbert (Richard Balint) gives his wife (Liliana Ghiţă) a housekeeper (Ioana Dagău) as a gift to give her time to have time.

A super production of the Regina Maria Theatre will be the show ŢIGANIADA (by Ion Budai-Deleanu, artistic direction Sorin Militaru), which will premiere on November 25. The show based on the famous epic by Ion Budai-Deleanu is part of the series of great shows based on classic texts. Benefiting from a dramatization by Radu Macrinici, winner of two UNITER awards for dramaturgy, the show of the Oradea theatre is not only a restitution of a legendary text but also a transposition to the present time of the delicious adventures that Ion Budai-Deleanu's gypsies experience on their way to search for an illusory country. Music, dance and especially acting performances complete this picturesque picture and make ŢIGANIADA one of the most important events of this season.

We are not forgetting the great playwright IL Caragiale (because 2012 was his year), so on Romania's National Day we will have a new premiere: "LA IUNION, BIRJAR!", directed by Daniel Vulcu. The script is made up of Caragiale's most famous sketches, combining subtle humor, good quality music and trying to recreate a long-gone but always current world, both politically and socially.

The classics return to the Oradea theater with the staging of William Shakespeare's play, TWELFTH NIGHT (directed by Alexandru Mâzgăreanu). Written near Christmas in 1600, the play, like many other Shakespearean comedies, is based on the confusion of the identities of some characters. Viola disguises herself as a man, takes the name Cesarino and enters the service of Duke Orsino. The latter is in love with the young Olivia, whose father and brother have recently died. To win her heart, Orsino uses Cesarino as an intermediary. Believing that Cesarino is a man, Olivia falls in love with him, that is, with Viola... In turn, Viola harbors feelings for the Duke, who becomes her close friend and confidant at the same time... A delicious comedy that will undoubtedly captivate the Oradea audience.

The musical Fiddler on the Roof needs no introduction: it was the best-received show of the Oradea Theatre! With two nominations for the UNITER Awards, presence at three festivals and two awards, this musical returns for the 2012-2013 Season starting in November. The play tells the story of several incidents in the life of the milkman Tevye, in his effort to keep his family united by respecting the all-powerful tradition in the Jewish community of the Russian village of Anatevka, all accompanied by live music from the „Hakeshet Klezmer Band” orchestra.
