OPEN CALL: Young Directors – Contemporary Comedy
The Regina Maria Theatre is launching an Open Call addressed to young directors from Romania who are passionate about contemporary comedy. We are looking for original comedy proposals that reflect current realities and challenges, exploring themes relevant to today's audience, in a creative, funny and innovative manner.
What we are looking for:
- Young directors up to 35 years of age;
- Projects contemporary comedies, either original creations or modern adaptations, which address current themes;
- An original directorial idea and smart.
Materials required for registration:
Send us the following materials by December 15th:
- Text proposed, if it is a text already written;
- Description detailed and reasoned presentation of the directorial concept;
- Proposal for distribution, which will include the actors of the Iosif Vulcan Troupe;
- Proposal of a creative team, depending on the needs of the project: set designer, playwright (for original texts), composer, choreographer, etc.
- CVsthe wishes of the entire team;
- Copy of the graduation diploma in Theatre Directing;
- OPTIONAL: Video recordings of one or more performances performed.
All materials will be sent in digital format to the email address: [email protected], with the subject "Open Call TRM".
Selection criteria:
- Originality and the relevance of the proposed topic;
- capacity to form a creative team for the project;
- Feasibility the project from a production point of view.
Calendar:
- Contest registration period: November 5 – December 15, 2024
- Judging period: December 16, 2024 – January 16, 2025
- Announcing the winner: January 27, 2025
- Performance period: 2025-2026 season
The jury is made up of the Artistic Council of the Regina Maria Theatre. The President of the Jury is the artistic director and director Bobi Pricop.

On the 50th anniversary of the first theater festival in Oradea – Short Theatre Week, the Regina Maria Theatre announces the selection of the 10th edition of the Oradea International Theatre Festival (FITO), financed by the Bihor County Council, which will take place between 11–20 September 2026. This year's anniversary edition brings to the fore a broad and diverse program, built around the two already established sections: the 28th edition of the Short Theatre Festival and the 6th edition of the Arcadia Children's Theatre Festival, which resumes after an 8-year break. The program of performances will be supported by a series of other events that will transform FITO into a meeting place between artists, professionals in the field of performing arts and the public.
