Oradea Cultural Salon at the Teatru and Impro Patzan Show at Columbus – this week at the Regina Maria Theater
The Regina Maria Theater invites you this week to two related events, which complement the theater's cultural program and invite the audience to intercultural dialogue.
On Wednesday, February 19, from 5:00 PM, in the Loji Foyer (1st floor), the Regina Maria Theater hosts the second edition of the Oradea Culture Salon, founded by university professor and literary critic Ion Simuț. The special guest of this edition is Ms. Simona Mihuțiu, "an Oradea writer in full affirmation" (Ion Simuț), with a prolific literary activity, who has written four novels, three volumes of short prose, three volumes of poetry, a volume of essays and two plays since 2019.
In dramaturgy, he debuted with the text "Hope Never Goes Up in the Elevator", which was staged at the Regina Maria Theater in January 2025 and since then every performance has been played only with a full house.
The team of the show "Hope Never Goes Up in the Elevator" will also be present at the event, consisting of director Toni Nica, set designer Oana Cernea, actors Mirela Niță Lupu, Adela Lazar, Georgia Căprărin and David Constantinescu.
The event hosts are Victoria Balint, interim manager of the Regina Maria Theater, and Ion Simuț, university professor, critic and literary historian.
Event coordinator: Florina Dometi, literary secretary at the Regina Maria Theater
The event will have three main sections: a portrait of an emerging writer, in which Simona Mihuțiu will share details about her literary career, a debate on the play and show "Hope Never Goes Up in the Elevator," and interventions and opinions from the audience.
Through these initiatives, the Regina Maria Theater reaffirms its mission to support and promote Oradea creators, offering them the opportunity to assert themselves and the public the opportunity to interact directly with personalities of the local cultural scene.
Free admission, subject to availability!

Friday, February 21, from 7:00 PM, at Columbus Cafe Oradea, the Regina Maria Theater organizes Impro Patzan Show – Keith Johnstone Tribute, an improvisational performance in a relaxed setting, dedicated to the pioneer of this genre of theatre. The event marks the birthday of Keith Johnstone, born on February 21, and is a tribute to his impact on improvisational theatre. It will be a spontaneity and humor-filled experience, without a pre-established script, where actors will test their creativity and presence of mind, drawing inspiration from Johnstone's methods.
Columbus Cafe becomes, for one evening, the stage of a different kind of theater, where the audience and the actors create unique and unpredictable moments together.
The team of improvisers is made up of actors Alin Stanciu, George Dometi, Denisa Irina Vlad, David Constantinescu, Georgia Căprărin and Cosmin Petruț.
Event coordinator: Ramona Gabriela Nemeș, artistic secretary at the Regina Maria Theater
This improvisational show is the first in a series of similar events, which the Regina Maria Theatre aims to support in alternative and less formal spaces, thus opening up new perspectives on the artistic act. The aim of this approach is to diversify the audience, attracting people who do not usually frequent traditional theater halls, but also to stimulate the creativity of the actors, adapting them to dynamic and unpredictable contexts. Through such initiatives, the Regina Maria Theatre aims to diversify the audience, bring theater closer to the community and consolidate its role in the contemporary cultural landscape.
The price of a ticket is 40 lei, and reservations can be made online at www.ambilet.ro.
