The Regina Maria Theatre is pleased to announce the premiere of the show "Enigmatic Variations", by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, translated by Nicolae Weisz, directed by Elvira Rîmbu, which will take place on Friday, March 9, at 7:00 PM, at the Arcadia Hall.

The author of the text, Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, has become one of the most widely read and performed French-language authors in the world in the last two decades. His books have been translated into 45 languages, and his plays are regularly performed in over 50 countries. He has been awarded over 20 literary prizes and distinctions, in 2001 receiving Grand Prix du Theatre for his entire work awarded by the French Academy and the title of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.

The text "Enigmatic Variations" quickly entered the international dramatic repertoire, being successfully performed on the stages of major theaters and in the independent space both in France and abroad. In Romania, it was staged by directors such as Claudiu Goga and Liviu Manoliu, being enthusiastically received by the general public and the specialized public.

At the Regina Maria Theater, it is staged for the first time and enjoys the directorial vision of Elvira Rîmbu. It is not the first directorial project of actress Elvira Rîmbu at the Oradea theater, as she also directed the show "A Very Simple Story", an award-winning show loved by the audience. The characters are played by actors Sebastian Lupu (Abel Znorko) and Petre Ghimbășan (Erik Larsen), who have always formed a strong and effervescent duo on stage, managing to surprise with the fine and ingenious nuances with which they build each character. The set design, complex and complementary, is by Oana Cernea.

The story begins with a professional meeting between two intelligent men, Nobel Prize-winning writer Abel Znorko (Sebastian Lupu) and journalist Erik Larsen (Petre Ghimbăşan), which suddenly turns into a thrilling game of verbal chess. Strong and dominant personalities, both men play their game, alternating the pole of power depending on the move the other makes, the meeting thus entering a winding labyrinth, refined and animated by a perfect science of suspense.

Spectators who will not be able to attend the premiere are invited to the following performances, which will take place on Saturday, March 17 and Friday, March 23, from 7:00 PM, at the Arcadia Hall.
