MOROMETS – performative reading

Arcadia Troupe Performance Archive, 2019-2020 Season

The idea for this show came as a continuation of an older idea by actor Şerban Borda, which the Children's Theatre Cultural Association put into practice last summer, "Turn the Page".
The idea materialized this year, in a project conceived by Andreea Costea, submitted to the Administration of the National Cultural Fund, for which co-financing was received within the I/2020 funding session for cultural projects, in the Education through Culture area.

The "School Readings Integrated in Animation Theater" project aims to support culturally, socially and ethnically disadvantaged adolescents who are preparing for the Baccalaureate exams, by creating a performative reading based on the novel "Moromeții" by Marin Preda, using innovative artistic means: the language of animation theater, multimedia, live music, dedicated workshops and Q&A sessions.

The project is aimed at adolescents from rural areas in Bihor, Satu Mare and Sălaj counties, institutionalized minors from placement centers in Bihor and Romanian students from Gyula, Hungary.

The partners of the Children's Theater Cultural Association are: Regina Maria Theater, the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection of Bihor, the University of Oradea, the Marghita Culture House, the Aleșd City Hall, the Tinca Commune Hall, the Zalău County Museum of History and Art, the Carei Cultural Center and the Nicolae Bălcescu High School in Gyula.

EXPLOSIVE*

Arcadia Troupe Performance Archive, 2019-2020 Season

by Elise Wilk

A high school from today. The tabloids would say it's a "girly" high school. The principal would say it's a "reputable" high school. The Depressed Girl would say it's a "fucked up" high school. The bully boy would say it's a "pretty cool" high school. In the end, it's a high school like any other. Until Denis, a new student, appears. He changes the hierarchies, becoming the girls' favorite and the boys' leader. Charismatic, rebellious and authentic, Denis quickly becomes more influential than Penteu, the head of the class. Denis is the only one who rebels, does not accept the false pressure of his parents, has the courage to face the school principal who teaches the lesson from the notebook. Denis also exerts a fascination on Agave, the school psychologist. A fascination that makes her forget everything. Even her son Penteu, who needs her. Until things go crazy.

Distribution:

Agave – Angela Tanko
The director – Pavel Sîrghi
The Maid – Consuela Egyed
Denis – David Constantinescu
Pentheus – Alin Stanciu
The beautiful girl – Calița Nantu
The winning girl – Daniela Purcărea

20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA

Arcadia Troupe Performance Archive, 2011-2012 Season

Adapted from the novel of the same name by Jules Verne

Part of the extraordinary journeys imagined by French novelist Jules Verne, "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" has become a classic tale of underwater wonders that fascinated even before they were known to the human eye. The story of Captain Nemo and the submarine Nautilus is told from the perspective of Professor Pierre Aronnax, a renowned French biologist, who is sent on a scientific expedition to investigate an unknown sea monster. After a confrontation, it turns out that the monster is none other than the submarine Nautilus, and the harpooner Ned Land, Professor Aronnax and his assistant, the faithful Conseil, become prisoners of its enigmatic leader, Captain Nemo. Thus, for a long period of time, they share the self-imposed exile of Captain Nemo, withdrawn from the civilized world both because of the cruel disappointment caused by his peers who kidnapped his family and homeland, and animated by the desire for scientific knowledge. His belief is that true freedom is found only in the depths of the sea. The journey through the underwater paradise (not without adventures and incidents) takes the heroes through waters populated by never-before-seen creatures, among the corals of the Red Sea, under the polar ice caps of Antarctica and even past the ruins of the legendary Atlantis.
