SANTA'S SLEEVE

Arcadia Troupe Performance Archive, 2018-2019 Season

by Andreea Costea, directed by Igor Lungu

Following requests from parents, an ad hoc meeting is organized at the North Pole to save the stories. This is because without stories, all the magic of Christmas disappears, and Santa Claus is left without the famous sleigh with which he brings gifts every year. To save the situation, Santa Claus and Santa Claus convince the negative characters in children's stories to do good deeds.

The show Santa's Sleigh aims to be a very brief foray into childhood stories, such as The Bear Tricked by the Fox, The Three Little Pigs and The Goat with Three Kids, to see what a good deed means and who should do it, to bring the magic of Christmas back to earth.

HUNGARIAN FOLK STORIES

Arcadia Troupe Performance Archive, 2016-2017 Season

"The more stories you know, the richer you become"

This is the motto of actor and director Igor Lungu, who is currently working on his second project dedicated to the wonderful traditional tales of neighboring peoples. After the success of the show "Russian Folk Tales", Hungarian folklore is about to reveal to us some of the beautiful fairy tales that circulated in the Pannonian Plain.

The stories presented – "The Cowardly Wolf", "The Poor Man and the Tricked Fox", "The Bear and the Cat" and "The Boastful Bunny" – are short stories in which the pleasure of play and humor blend harmoniously with the well-drawn characters of the characters and the moral that accompanies each story.

The combination between visual, musical and clothing elements specific to Hungarian culture will send us on a fantastic journey into the imaginary and traditional local space. In the structure of these elements we will also be able to distinguish fragments in common with Romanian folklore, a fact that reconfirms the existence of multiculturalism since the time of storytelling at the tables and at the village hearth.

NAPOLEON WAS… A GIRL

Arcadia Troupe Performance Archive, 2014-2015 Season

adaptation by Sică Alexandrescu after an American farce, directed by Andrei Mihalache

A friendly encounter between a young wife and a… affectionate individual heats up the situation in the family of a Chicago mobster. And Ketty (Alina Leonte) doesn't want to reveal who she went out to lunch with, even for a second, which is why William (Răzvan Vicoveanu) decides to go on a long business trip to distance himself from his wife's alleged infidelity.

All the while, Ketty, helped by her friend Jimmy (Petre Ghimbașan) and wife Maggie (Angela Tanko), devises a plan to win back her doubtful husband – she will adopt a child, claiming it to be theirs, as he has long wanted an heir. What will come out of all this mess… find out if you come to see the show NAPOLEON WAS… A GIRL!

„"It's a farce, a play written according to the rules of comedy, with quirks, with confusions, with twists and turns, it's adapted by a great theater man with the science of the stage and the actor's acting. From this point of view, we have a guarantee, a certainty." (Andrei Mihalache)

PUSS IN BOOTS

Arcadia Troupe Performance Archive, 2014-2015 Season

The first puppet version of the opera "Puss in Boots" by Master Cornel Trăilescu

On a holiday for the hosts, in their weft, a motley group of artists came to delight their offspring, but also us. They will tell with humor, more singing than speaking, the plight of a little boy, Ionică... and his friend, the much, much more famous cat, called Cotoşman.

The clown cart is unloaded in front of the ad-hoc spectators…and the artists take out their costumes, props and puppets…to act out, as per the book, the story of the Cat Who Got a Voice. The cat, newly shod in red boots, starts singing, with a voice that is, to be honest, more meowing and thin, because it is a soprano voice, like in opera, not like in drama!

When four "four brave" hunters sent by the emperor to catch the white rabbit, come face to face with the "stupid cat", a good opportunity arises for the Puss in Boots and his master to reach the palace. The shy Ionică, anointed Voivode Ionică of Carambas-Bambas-Strambas by Cotoşman, pushed from behind by him, will send the "white rabbit" as a gift to the princess, as an engagement gift.

A THOUSAND AND ONE FRONTIERES (THE STORY OF ALADDIN)

Arcadia Troupe Performance Archive, 2014-2015 Season

by Radu Dinulescu

The show is a multinational co-production, involving artists from Romania, the Czech Republic, Belgium and France, which tells the story of a group of traveling actors stopped at a border crossing. To solve this problem, they improvise a puppet show about the adventures of Aladdin for the border policeman. Thanks to the magic and humor of the play, the actors convince the policeman, but also the audience, that they have earned the right to cross the border.

Commedia dell'arte archetypes, classic string puppets and bunaku dolls are the main ingredients used to portray the fascinating oriental story, everything being enriched by the illusion of sets and 3D images.

RUSSIAN FOLK STORIES

Arcadia Troupe Performance Archive, 2014-2015 Season

The Regina Maria Theatre opens the new 2014-2015 season with a unique performance by the Arcadia Troupe. The actors bring to the stage the first premiere of the fall – Russian folk tales, a show performed by the new actress of the Arcadia Troupe, Bianca Viviana Priceputu, and the well-known actor Igor Lungu.

The idea and direction of this show belong to Igor Lungu. The scenography signed by Csuri Emese is a special one, the artist managing to bring back to life puppets used by the theater in the repertoires of the '70s, '80s, '90s and now refurbished. The atmosphere specific to the Russian world told in the five stories (The Donut, The Giant Radish, The Fox and the Raven, The Crane and the Fox, The Bunny's House) is enhanced by the soundtrack featuring authentic music. The melodies and the narrator's voice belong to actress Zentania Lupșe.
