The Regina Maria Theatre announces the premiere of the show "D-ale carnavalului" by IL Caragiale, directed by Vlad Trifaș, who also signed the musical selection and the adaptation of the text. The set design is by Oana Cernea, and the lighting design is by Ionuț Aldea. The two premiere performances will take place on September 24 and 25, at 7:00 PM, at the Great Hall.

At the beginning of the season, the Regina Maria Theater reaffirms its mission to promote Romanian cultural values and support educational programs, choosing to introduce two emblematic texts from Caragiale's work into the repertoire: "D-ale carnavalului", directed, adapted and musically selected by Vlad Trifaș, and "Năpasta", directed by Denisa Irina Vlad, whose premiere is scheduled for the end of 2025. The two productions also have an anniversary significance, marking 70 years since the first premiere of the permanent Romanian troupe in Oradea, in 1955, with the show "O scrisoare pierdută".

"D-ale carnavalului" arrives on the Oradea stage for the third time, after Valeriu Moisescu's staging in 1959 and Ion Sapdaru's in 2002. The 2002 show featured several actors who are still part of the Iosif Vulcan Troupe today, including Șerban Borda and Petre Ghimbășan. After 23 years, the two find themselves in the cast of the 2025 project, this time in different roles.

Director Vlad Trifaș returns to Oradea after the success of the show "Tartuffe", which, in 2022, brought him Best International Director Award, and to Richard Balint Best International Actor Award, for the role of Orgon. The distinctions were given by the jury of the New Theatre magazine in Turkey, following the Oradea troupe's participation in the International Balkan Theatre Festival "Balkan Breeze" in Bursa. This new collaboration brings him back together with the actors of the Iosif Vulcan Troupe, about whom he says:

I found the actors of the Iosif Vulcan Troupe in excellent shape, many of them reaching an artistic maturity that gives me confidence in the strength of this troupe. We communicate very well, and the period in which we did not work together was a beneficial one – it made us miss each other. I think we met again at a very good time. – Vlad Trifas

This energy is also reflected in the staging of the show, which is not limited to a farce of love entanglements, but highlights the complexity and depth of the characters. The director's vision organically integrates them into the world of the slum, with all its color and grotesqueness, emphasizing the comic dramas that define them. Through carefully constructed sets and performances, the show evokes a Balkan, visceral universe, where humor is born naturally, from a deeply human need.

The staging of the show "D-ale carnavalului" was born in a laboratory state, where the entire team explored Caragiale's deeply human humor. His typologies do not belong only to the past, but breathe around us, people who burn at high temperatures, ready to explode at any moment, because their world - like ours - always operates on the edge.

Carnival becomes the metaphor for this tense universe, where masks, appearances and intentional confusions create a permanent danger of explosion. The laughter that the show proposes is not only comical, but necessary: a mechanism of liberation and recognition in a reality where human fragility and ridicule inevitably coexist. – Vlad Trifas

In addition to directing, Vlad Trifaș also signs the adaptation of the text and the original music from the show. The creative team includes Carina Bunea, as assistant director, set designer Oana Cernea and light designer Ionuț Aldea, and the cast includes the following actors: Petre Ghimbășan (Nae Girimia), Șerban Borda (Iancu Pampon), Pavel Sîrghi (Mache Răzăchescu), David Constantinescu (Un catindat), Ioana Dragoș Gajdo (Iordache), Sorin Ionescu (Un ipistat/Un chelner), Adela Lazăr (Didina Mazu), Alina Leonte (Mița Baston).
